Complete lack of compassion
I felt totally dismissed by Dr. Bauk and his lack of compassion is disturbing. I have have heard he is an excellent surgeon, but he will never operate on me, nor will I see him again. He told me incorrect facts about what I should'nt be doing. My son is a Dr and I have other resources thank goodness to have questions answered. He should retire, or read up on what is current in his field.

Very compassionate
I saw dr. Bauk for a broken ankle. Unfortunately at the hospital they wrapped it in cotton, which I had a huge reaction to. Although I needed a hard cast we opted for the boot because in a hard cast I’d literally be in hell if I had a reaction. Insurance didn’t cover the boot so I had to pay out of pocket. Prob could’ve gotten it cheaper but he didn’t want me to leave with nothing. All in all he did well for me!

Horrible Experience
Find another surgeon!! Went to see him for a torn meniscus and after looking at the MRI, he basically dismissed me and told me there was nothing he could do. I went to another Surgeon and they couldn’t believe he did that - they actually questioned if he looked at the MRI. I ended up needing a microfracture surgery because the tear was so bad. I’m great now and out of pain but I will never forget the horrible treatment I got from this guy (I won’t give him the credit of using the Dr title because he doesn’t serve it). Read the other reviews on here as well, before you select him. He’s a disgrace to the medical community. He also is a part owner of Center for Advanced Orthopedics PT so beware of being sent there for “treatment”.

I was having a lot of issues with my knees. Dr Bauk suggested I go to physical therapy and told me which one to go to. I decided to use another PT center because they have better pricing, Pro Flex. During my next appointment with Bauk he caught a giant attitude when he found out I wasn’t using his PT center. I assume he owns it. He then said “ you don’t need any more PT just exercise at home. And come back and see me in three months. By then you’ll probably be in so much pain you’ll beg me to do surgery “ WTH? What kind of doctor talks like that? He doesn’t really examine you. Or take note of your progress the way the physical Therapy centers do. The guy is all about the money. I’m getting a second opinion. I don’t want someone who is only in it for the money cutting on me. He has been a waste of time in my recovery and I need to get back to work. My health isn’t some minor issue to me. I have a family to support and need a serious doctor interested in my recovery. Avoid this guy.

I went in to see him for hip pain. He had me leave his office and get an MRI after he had done an x-ray in the office. Set up surgery for a repair of a torn Gluteus meduis tear and a hip replacement. I got a second and third opinion from orthopedic surgeons in Baltimore and Bethesda. Both said that I did not need a hip replacement and the proposed repair of the tear would only make it worse. Discontinued aerobics that were causing me pain and one month later was back playing tennis. I would not recommend seeing him.

Dr. Bauk has been my orthopedic Dr for several years now. He has provided expert consultation on what I should do. He has conducted 2 total knee replacements this year for me. First was in January of 2020 and that knee seemed to heal completely within weeks. I had full Range of motion and no pain is just a short periods of time. I had me second knee replaced in May of 2020 and although it did not heal as quickly as the first it has healed nicely and I am currently nearly 100% again. Limited pain in the knee joint usually due to over utilization. Dr. Bauk explained each procedure, recovery and the Physical Therapy process. I think Dr. Bauk has done an exceptional job and ensured that I will have a quality of life with continued recovery over the next year. I would highly recommend Dr. Bauk for those serious about total knee replacement surgery. Thx Dr. Bauk

Dr. Bauk performed a knee replacement for me a year ago. From the first time I met him I was impressed with his manner and knowledge. Prior to my surgery he told me what to expect and following surgery he guided me with such complete instructions for my complete recovery. I am most grateful for his excellent care, patience and understanding.

I took my 90 year old mother to see Dr. Bauk twice. I did not care for his bedside manner or his prognosis. I felt like he was almost rude on both visits and have since found another doctor who is much better. I would not recommend this doctor.
