Dr. Darryl Johnson, DO

At my most recent appointment, i was not offered a “chaperone” to sit in on my appointment and i really wish i would have had one. In my experience with him, Dr. Johnson completely contradicts himself. he is rude, lazy, he lies and treats you as an inconvenience. I’ve seen him about 4 times now for reoccurring ruptured ovarian cysts. now at my most recent appointment, he tells me “they probably weren’t even cysts, that’s a really common diagnosis for women who come into the ER with abdominal pain”. I’ve been concerned about PCOS because it runs in my family. when i brought this up to him, he said “nah, you don’t have facial hair so you definitely don’t have PCOS”. I also brought up my concerns about maybe hormonal issues, and he tells me “what are you talking about? that doesn’t even make sense. you must be looking on the internet too much”. he didn’t run any tests and didn’t offer me any sort of option, idea or solution for my issues. he said there’s “nothing i can do for you”.

I can't say enough good about this Doctor! He performed my hysterectomy in March 2023. He is a very attentive/caring Doctor, and he's very knowledgeable and attentive. He does not rush the appointments, and he consistently has a smile on his face! I was informed about everything that would be done during surgery, and why it needed to be done. He's made me feel completely at ease, and comfortable with his expert decisions in my care. His nurse is just super awesome as well! She also was in on the surgery, and stood by my side and held my hand until they put me to sleep. As far as I'm concerned McFarland clinic in Ames, Iowa hit the jackpot when they got this wonderful doctor on their team! I believe he will be a great asset to them. Thank you Dr Johnson, and your Nurse, for taking such wonderful care of me! I cannot thank you both enough!

I’ve seen him a couple times now and he was very professional and commutative on questions I had asked. He got right to my problems and is doing my surgery. He’s the first out of several doctors I’ve seen to notice the issues I’ve been having he’s very honest. I wish I would have went and seen him sooner.

He want me to go to hospital and clinics in Iowa city, Iowa. I told him. That I didn’t want to go there. Because, my 20 year daughter pass a way from there from cancer. In 2003. And he turn to me and said every body dies. That tick my off. When it is one of his children at a young age. Maybe he’ll think of what to say to people. I didn’t like what he said. To me And I’ll never go back to him again.

Dr Johnson is knowledgeable and funny and his nurse Jenny is the best!!
