Counter Experience - I read the 1 star review
Counter to the 1 star review on this site my experience over the course of 2 years with Dr. Hei and his team I found a team ready to take on a very rare and only recently identified disease, VEXAS. Not only were they ready to learn and work with other physicians I required, they were willing to take surprising risks with experimental drugs, as this disease is so new it has no protocol of treatment. From scheduling, to waiting room time, to administrative work, to the ultimate challenge, medical care, Dr. Hei personally, and his team, my experience has been spectacular. I am very thankful for, and feel blessed to have this team on my side.

One of the best doctors I've ever met.
Dr. Hei is an amazing physician and scientist. He's very personable and knowledgeable. He sees the person as a whole and not just the patient. He was so understanding and compassionate in every hospital and office encounter. Always sat down and listened patiently to all my questions and tried to answer them honestly and clearly. He was encouraging and never gave up on finding the best course of treatment with the best possible outcome. We worked together as a team and respected each other's points of view. I trusted his good judgment and recommendations from the very moment I met him in the ER. That's when I started fighting for my life and he was by my side every step of the way. It's been an amazing experience having him as my doctor despite how scary my nightmare was. I consider him a blessing in my life and highly recommend him. Forever grateful. Thank You Dr. Hei.

Extremely disappointed. While Dr. Hei, is a competent physician, I feel that he goes strictly by the book and isn't proactive in trying to find the best treatment options for his patients. It's all wrote, nothing more or personal. I'm puzzled that he does not offer a more holistic approach including providing support for nutritional and phycological counseling, or a patient advocate to help a patient and their caregiver through a difficult journey. The patient needs to advocate for themselves.
