Low Quality “Provider”
Dr. Hunter was dismissive, made far too many assumptions and failed to ask appropriate questions regarding my past and medical history. He was condescending and unhelpful. He lacks empathy and seems to be racially insensitive. He job as a physician is to rule out possibilities to arrive at the proper conclusion. He was more interested in diagnosing and drawing conclusions without the supporting evidence. An MRI is necessary to rule out specific explanations for my symptoms. He was reluctant to order the test and chose to send me in a medical direction that was more a reflection of his internal bias than any clinical reasoning. I am thoroughly disappointed with my experience and would not recommend Dr. Hunter to anyone seeking neurological care. I do not feel comfortable leaving feedback for Dr. Herbst given that she is a resident. However, Dr. Hunter should know better and strive to set a better example for new doctors under his charge.

Great first visit!
I went with my mom for her first appointment with Dr. Hunter and was very pleased. All the questions he asked, his demeanor, how kind he was when dealing with her was comforting, and most importantly how knowledgeable he was about the issue we were there to address has me feeling we finally found the right place for help. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Positive Experience
I accompanied my husband on his first visit with Dr. Hunter. It was a 2 month wait to get that first appointment but I feel it was worth it. Dr. Hunter was very professional. He asked my husband questions and listened to his answers. He also looked at me to see if my facial expressions indicated that I agreed or not with the answers. The doctor's assistant lead some cognitive tests in the office. Dr. Hunter observed and took notes. He made a preliminary diagnosis but indicated that further testing is required. I am so far very satisfied with Dr. Hunter and staff.

Robin Williams, the actor we loved, committed suicide. He had Dementia. Dr. David Hunter was probably his physician. Any disease of ‘I am losing of mind,’ is the scariest, out of control experience. I begged to be sent to UT, thinking it would be ‘the best of the best!’ It was the opposite. Dr Hunter = zero compassion, doesn’t let patient finish sentences, argued, didn’t work as a ‘team’ with my other health care providers, didn’t let patient finish asking questions. Visits = less than 5-10 minutes. States 1st visit, ‘you do not have X diagnosis.’ He wouldn’t let me talk to tell him more! I had brought with me labs/notes I had that diagnosis. I came there for help, b/c I am losing my mind! I don’t have energy to argue or fight for care. I cried after visits. That’s not normal! I’ve NEVER experienced this. He is arrogant & dangerous in his specialty. If you’re suffering memory loss, find a Dr who gives you HOPE, time & excellent healthcare. I’ve found 1, don’t give up.

David Hunter was pompous, rude and unhelpful in caring for my mother who has been diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s. She has been seeing him since last July. I did not like him last year but refrained my judgement at the time. But this year was worse. My mother is refusing to return to his care! He declined to discuss any of the lifestyle changes that have been proven to improve symptoms of dementia. I tried to open the discussion bringing in a copy of a book, The Alzheimer’s Solution, written by 2 neurologists that specialize in Alzheimer’s. Hunter declined to discuss it with us, concentrating on medications that are not proven to have much efficacy in treatment. He said very uncaring things and showed little interest in treating my mother in a respectful way. He should not practice medicine when he can’t show empathy and respect!
