Always Afraid
He was okay when i had commercial insurance. When I went to Medicaid a year later or so, his entire demeanor changed. He always mentioned my insurance first thing and made it clear that he didn't like it. Even if you have imaging that shows your condition is the same or has worsened, he will tell you he's cutting back on your pain meds and sit there and smile at you. It's always a new game with him every single time to upset you and try to provoke reactions. He knows you're there because you're in terrible pain and seems to leverage that. His PAs are professional, but he has a very high employee turnover rate. So they always quit and then you get stuck with him again. I truly believe he enjoys cruelty and weilding power over vulnerable people. I started bringing a family member to appointments with me because I was scared of him and he confronted me about why someone was coming with me now. His office staff knows the truth. He also will not let patients use the restroom.

I have been a patient of Dr. Shah for over 7 years now. He and Ping help me reach a level of tolerance of my chronic pain so that I may have a better quality of life. I am looking at the remainder of my life in a wheelchair as there is no "cure" for my spinal issues-no surgery, no brace, etc. Because of Dr. Shah, Ping and the staff at Action Spine & Pain I am still mobile, still working everyday and still able to be independent. I owe them my gratitude and respect and they deserve it.

Dr. Shah was often rude to myself and my boyfriend who came with me to all my appointments. He is supposed to specialize in spinal issues but missed the major problem in my X Rays. He wantes to just stop all pain treatment without offering alternatives despite the fact that I have multiple diseases that cause chronic pain. At one point he wanted to do spinal injections and when I told him my other specialist disagreed he became mean and raised his voice. There was also used needles left out.

There's been a revolving door on his staff for a while now. I find that he is very inconsistent personally and doesn't work well with other doctors when they contact him. He is not a pill pusher, but his empathy is also flat. And he does push treatments that don't always work -- and seems miffed when you say so instead of trying something else. The office seems to be getting rougher and less considerate of patients lately as well.

I was referred to Dr. Shah by my internist. In need of an intervention to alleviate my lower back pain, I had an initial consult with Dr. Shah and then a short time later that week, I came into the office for a series of steroid facet injections. Now I am in WORSE shape than before! SEVERE peripheral neuropathy developed in my feet. Dr. Shah said this is due to my diabetes. NOT! He also said that "he didn't inject into any spinal nerves." Now, I'm nearly totally disabled. Proceed cautiously!

My only problem with this office is that they discontinued my care because of missed appointments. you are a mental health facility. So knowing that you treat people who may have short term memory anxiety or whatever the case, may get in the way of an appointment. I think you should be more considerate depending on the reasons why a patient may not be able to come in. Love the NP

Dr. Shah helps me manage my pain to where it is tolerable. His staff is professional & organized. Dr. Shah is kind, considerate & can give an epidural injection without any pain. He is so knowledgeable about the human anatomy. I've been going there for 2 years & never had any dissatisfaction. He was recommended by my family doctor.

He was great with my husband after the injections he sat and went over everything with us and mentioned to us about my husbands last doctor was giving him two kinds of pain meds and it could have cause convulsions. He gave my husband the right medicines. We love the way he takes the time with his patients. He gave my husband his medicine same visit so he didn't have to keep taking off work also his staff was great very caring and make sure everything went alright. Glad we was referred to him.

Worst possible experience ever. I've been writing in pain for 5 weeks since this doctor received my referral. I have called at least twice a week, and not only has no one called me back ever (they always say they will call me back), they still will not allow me to schedule my intake appointment!!! I have tried to get a new referral to anywhere else, but my doctor finds it fishy that I claim this doctor still hasn't allowed me to schedule an appointment in the 5 weeks he has had my referral.
