Steer clear, especially young women
Beware of Dr. Kirby if you value compassion, respect, and professionalism in your medical care. All of my visits with him for over a year were characterized by dismissiveness, rudeness, and a lack of responsiveness. His judgmental and careless attitude, especially towards young females, was not only offensive but also potentially dangerous, as I often found him to be neglectful. I never once got the feeling he cared about me or my wellbeing, let alone in moments when I was really struggling. Being as kind yet truthful as I can, spare yourself the frustration and potential harm by seeking care elsewhere. Cleveland Clinic is certainly a 'boys club' and Dr. Kirby's one of their top dogs.

Great doctor who took the time to diagnose and understand my symptoms was serious enough to call me back and admitted me into the hospital for a week to run more tests on me. It was a life saver. I appreciate him for that. I would recommend Dr. Kirby to my friends and family with no hesitation.

wish I could give him -1
This physician is terse and rude. Yes, he is leading the way with clinical trials, symposiums, and other academic pursuits. That said, I am on TPN for life and that is pretty rare. Kirby has told me only 30-35 thousand people in the US are on TPN for 100% nutrition for a lifetime. What I think is awful about him and the rest of his staff, is that he FAILS in a clinical setting. All his academic accolades have inflated his ego to such a degree that it borders on abuse. He is rude to me, does not work with me to help my dismal quality of life, has no answers, and shows very little compassion. His nurse is also rude to me. I unfortunately got bumped to him when my original TPN doc went off to be a Fellow in another field. Dr. Kirby wasn't taking new patients. I'm tired of his affect, ego, and his mistakes. I recommend he stop practicing so he can stay in research and have everyone be his bootlickers.
