Dr. Mansell is an excellent doctor, in my opinion
Dr. Mansell has given me two colonoscopies in the last twenty years and each time he provided me with excellent care.

I started seeing Dr Mancell in 2005 when my liver failed and I was put on the transplant list at UCMP. I continued seeing Dr Mancell during my time on the wait list and in 2009 when I fully recovered without needing a transplant I continued to see Dr Mansell for colonoscopy’s, and endoscopies. He referred me to the Dr that removed gall bladder. I have a past with Dr Mansell and find him kind, thorough, empathetic, diligent, intelligent, and intuitive. Have I had long wait times? Yes. If he wasn’t a great Dr I wouldn’t still be a patient. The North State has very few Doctors that are competent in their specialties, especially with a complex case. Dr Mancell is great at what he does and there are a lot of patients that know that to be true..

He was very nice the first visit... next 3 visits arrogant. I have never felt so disrespected and uncomfortable with a doctor. Go to Chico for GI doc. He is truly terrible and also misdiagnosed me. He made me feel hopeless. I saw new GI and it was a healthy experience not a dysfunctional experience

The wait time to even get that first appointment was long, almost 3 months. Was referred to him for a chronic pain that only appears every so often and by the time I was scheduled to see Dr. Mansell, the pain was of course gone. Waiting room time was like most normal dr appointments, upwards of 30 min wait to be seen. Numerous tests were ran and was eventually was told that this was just going to be unexplained pain and would have to deal with it. I didn't really appreciate that diagnosis.

Dr Mansell is a busy man as he is a very good doctor. At first I wasn't comfortable with him, he is a watcher and a listener and that can be uncomfortable when you are nervous and talking a lot. By the second visit he smiled and opened up a little and even smiled :) Mansell goes out of his way to service ALL of his patients with the best care possible. The waiting room is very full but if you call ahead they will give you an estimate of how long . I have never waited more than 15 mins.

There is no question the man is a competant physician. However, like a lot of doctors, he lets his status as a gifted person go to his head. The staff (headed by his wife) routinely OVERBOOKS patients; we experienced a 4 hour wait the first appointment, and almost as long for the follow up post procedure (both times leaving at close to 10 pm). When confronted about this lack of respect for patients' time, he was unapologetic and arrogantly suggested we try to find another GI doctor.

Very poor bedside manner. His staff overbooks him and then he takes it out on the patients. He answered three phone calls while i was in my appointment that i waited three months for. Then when he does talk to me his arrogance and indifference show that maybe he should not be practicing medicine any longer and should retire.
