His personality is not the only thing bad, being a Good Doctor is also bad. I’m at Mayo Clinic at present. He is 100 % wrong. I , even knew he was wrong. Mayo confirmed it. 11-23-19. There are NOT good cardiologists , E P ‘s & neurologists in N C. I had 9.

Horrible bedside manner and extremely rude to his patients. Instead of addressing my concerns, he spent the entire time telling me I was fat, close to having a heart attack (without having any medical data to back that up), I had a fever because I’m fat, asked me if I weighed 300 lbs (I’m only 215) and said my knee pain was because “my little legs couldn’t hold up my weight anymore” even though I’ve been told by 2 doctors and a x-Ray that it’s due to my high patella. I walked out of his office with more anxiety than I went in with and no answers to the questions I had.

REI recently moved my care to Dr Shocken after being with UNC for ten years. He has always spent the time with me to explain complex processes and answered all my questions when I visit. I would recommend him for anyone looking for a physician who cares about patients improving their health.

This man is an exceptional cardiologist. He takes more time with his patients than any other doctor I have seen or heard of. Don't judge him based on the first appointment- give it a few. He is great at what he does and cares tremendously about his patients' health. My autonomic dysfunction hasn't been treated well over the years, and this is the first doctor to truly take the time to go over my history and have the most researched decision of how to proceed. The wait sucks, but he's worth it.

Heartless excuse of a Duke University Doctor! Poor bedside manner. Cocky & cruel. Hateful & lacking the qualities of a heart doctor. Not up to date with the latest & greatest in medicine. TAKES to many guesses and shots in the dark. A danger to his patients prescribing medications that were contraindicated. Disrespectful to his patients. Arrogant, God forbid you ask a question or question what medicine he's prescribing even if it can't be taken with the current medications your on.
