Good surgeon lacking in people skills
Paternalistic and dismissive of patient concerns. If all you want is good technique and can follow his instructions to the letter, go for it. I’d rather be a partner in my own care and be able to discuss things.

If I could give minus 5 stars, I would.
This man is arrogant and has an attitude that some may tolerate, but not me. I have never had such an awful experience in a doctor's office. I would not let him perform surgery on me even if he was the last man standing. I highly advise finding someone other than Edward Petro, MD.

Arrogant and lacking professionalism
The doctor didn't even fully enter the exam room, didn't face me nor ask any questions. He looked at the ex-ray on the screen and bruskly stated he couldn't help me. When asked a question, he walked out restating that because I didn't need surgery, I should ask his assistant any questions I had. In 74 years of seeking medical care, this was the worst experience I've had. I should have read some of the reviews prior to making the appointment,

Horrible,heartless, arrogant =Dr Petrow.
I never met the Dr? I saw Dr petro's nurse who sent me to another doctor for injections that didn't work then to physical therapy that didn't work and then to the nerve burning with another doctor that didn't work. They also told me I needed to drop 20 lb before surgery but while losing weight I only had four more pounds to go and a disc in my spine broke off a sequestered disc they called it. I couldn't move for 3 months between my sequestered disc in my knees! I called Tucson orthopedic as soon as I was done with all my neurosurgeon app they told me that there was a note on my chart that he would not see me or make any appointments WHAT? I spent almost a year they're doing everything they asked me to do. I was told I wasn't covered with my insurance anymore so I called my insurance company and they said Dr Petrow was lying.! While reading his reviews I noticed he did this to someone else as well and the other person went to another doctor Dr Nixon I see Dr Nixon this Feb.

Avoid this doctor
Dr. Edward P. Petrow Jr. is a BAD doctor!! I visited him in June 2022 and we came up with a plan to replace my left hip. Covid was high at the time, I was to call in to schedule the surgery when the Covid levels dropped. In early 2023, I called to schedule and was told that, since it had been over 6 months, I needed to see Dr. Petrow again. I made the appointment, and he removed me from his office saying he didn't do hospitals anymore. In a very animated fashion he yelled 'I offered you help, and you declined, now it is too late.' He referred me to another surgeon in another facility. I tried to make another appointment with him to get an explanation as to how I was a suitable candidate, and now a bad one, but he refused to see me. So, I had the surgery performed out-patient by Dr. Ryan Nixon who also does direct anterior. Dr. Edward P. Petrow remains the one of the worst doctors I've ever met!

Best knee doc in Tucson!
I saw Dr. Petrow for knee pain while running. He recommended starting with a steroid injection since that was very effective for me a few years ago. When the pain increased a week and a half later, Dr. Petrow responded quickly and ordered an MRI, which showed a torn meniscus and a Baker cyst. Dr. Petrow went through every image with me, easily explaining what he was seeing in layman's terms. I was very pleased with Dr. Petrow's conservative approach: he recommended having the cyst drained rather than do surgery to remove the tear. Additionally, since Dr. Petrow does not do cyst aspirations, he recommended another wonderful doctor, Dr. Taduran, for that procedure. I cannot recommend Dr. Petrow highly enough! He is professional, caring, understanding, and incredibly knowledgeable.

It’s not often that a surgeon tells you it would be best to wait awhile before considering surgery. It’s with gratitude that Dr. Petrow definitely has his patients best interest at heart.

THE PLACE for orthopedic care.
Very glad my PCP referral was to Dr Petrow for my knee pain. I found the office staff very professional and Dr Petrow did an amazing job reviewing my MRI and X-rays clearly explaining my condition and developing a care plan to treat my condition. He took a lot of time answering all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the plan. Dr. Petrow has a very easy going manor using some humor and relatable explanations. Luckily, no surgery required at this time but when it comes time, Dr Petrow will be my choice.

Best in Tucson
Excellent doctor and whole staff. Successful surgery and recovery. Highly recommend Dr. Petrow. His assistant Juan Prieto is very knowledgeable, caring and friendly. Only one complaint post surgery about a nurse who discharged me prematurely. Dr. Petrow addressed this with concern. He is totally trustworthy and highly skilled. Am pleased with the results.
