Dr. Thompson always listens and really knows his field. I have been a patient of his for many years. Carpal tunnel, torn rotator cuff, shoulder replacement, trigger fingers and wrist surgery. He has always taken the best care of me. Have recommended him to several people.

Dr. Thompson previously performed 2 reverse shoulder replacements for me for which I am grateful for every day. I decided to have my trigger finger surgically repaired and the results are superior. Dr. Thompson has to be the kindest, most considerate, gentlest doctor that I have ever met. I receive shots in my hands for terrible, debilitating arthritis. I have gotten these shots elsewhere and it was a horrible experience, one that I would not like to repeat. With Dr. Thompson, it is relatively pain free. His technique for administering these injections, as well as his humor and kindness, speak well for the good doctor. I refer people to him all the time. He is definitely one of the best, especially for hands and shoulders and for whatever else he treats. He gets high tens from me!

DR. THOMPSON AUTHORIZED AN EARLY APPOINTMENT DATE AS HE WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE THAT I WAS STRUGGLING WITH. A NORMAL APPOINTMENT WAS A MINIMUM OF SIX WEEKS OUT, HE APPROVED TWO DAYS. HE HAD EVALUATED MY DISTAL BICEP TENDON ISSUE IN JULY AND AT THAT TIME, SAID THAT IF I CONTINUED WITH THE SYMPTOMS OR THEY WORSENED TO CALL HIM AND WE WOULD RE-EVALUATE. WHEN I CALLED TUCSON ORTHO, THEY WENT DIRECTLY TO HIM FOR HIS APPROVAL OF AN EARLY VISIT FOR ME WHICH HE APPROVED. DR. THOMPSON HAS PERFORMED TWO FINGER SURGERIES AND AND ELBOW SURGERY IN THE PAST AND ALL WERE TOTALLY SUCCESSFUL. I TOTALLY TRUST HIM AND WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.

I have only a minor issue but Dr Thompson didn't hesitate to spend the time to explain and address any questions I had. Also laid out a coarse of treatment for more than one possibly. Wouldn't hesitate to take a more serious problem to him.

Dr. Thompson is an excellent surgeon and a very kind person. He has treated my bad shoulder for years but I recently decided it was time to replace it. He never pushed surgery but agreed with me that it was finally time. He was always available to answer questions after surgery, even providing me with his cell number.

Dr. Joel is thorough and his expertise is apparent. He is such a kind Dr. I have a lot of pain and he has helped tremendously without surgery. I feel very confident with his care!

Having been unable to get a surgical opinion from two TOI doctors, I was referred to Dr. Thompson. I was very impressed with his NP, Alex. Upon meeting the doctor, I was immediately put at ease by his manner and personality- certainly not your typical surgeon! His skill at injecting my joints was amazing- nearly painless- I'm usually stifling a scream. All my questions and concerns were addressed, and I am looking forward to having surgery soon. As a retired RN-PNP, I have a sense of the character of a physician, and Dr. Thompson is in my top 5!

Painful shoulder for several months. Dr. Thompson took time to have my shoulder x-rayed, then explained what he saw on the x-ray and after examining my range of motion and pain level he offered information and recommended treatment. After experiencing a painless injection and understanding that my options for continuing treatment as needed are open I left very satisfied. Since returning home I am experiencing no pain after a sound sleep last night…first one in quite a while!!! Dr. Thompson is a knowledgeable experienced surgeon who is also kind and gentle with patients. I highly recommend him and look forward to my next visit when needed.
