Dr. Elizabeth Alfson, MD

Dr. Alfson provided transformative therapy services that have improved every part of life. She listens with deep presence and compassion, responding to where I am and where I want to go. During the three years I worked with her, I felt known, heard, respected, challenged, and supported. I cannot recommend Dr. Alfson more highly.

Dr. Alfson is the best practitioner I've ever had. She's kind, thorough, knows when to pull back, knows when to push. She prescribes but that's about 5% of my typical session time with her - although if a bigger discussion is warranted she will take that time. Seeing Dr. Alfson is a gift, because she is an incredible empath who will walk your journey and more importantly feel your journey with you (sometimes more than you can to feel it yourself, as you've become numb to it), but you should expect to do the work. There are times she will challenge you - help you see how you are retreating, masking something, avoiding a topic, and she makes no apologies for that, because that's an incredibly important to rewiring the patterns that have brought you to her in the first place. But it's uncomfortable, as resolving trauma/anxiety/depression should sometimes be. Yet she always remains kind, like a friend, but professional, like a provider should be. I'm so grateful for Dr. Alfson's care!

Very good. Extremely intelligence with excellent analysis. She cares about the patient enough that she won't just throw medication at a patient without thorough vetting.

I saw Dr Alfson when she was practicing in Peabody, MA. I do not recommend this clinician. I found her to be uninterested in my issues. She was aloof and uncaring and I was not making progress. I then I left to see another psychiatrist who listened to me with compassion and concern which helped alleviate my issues.

I'm from the Northshore in Massachusetts and was seeing Dr. Alfson for many years until she relocated. I truly miss being under her care. Dr. Alfson is the absolute best, most caring psychiatrist I have ever had in my life. I highly recommend her!
