Great Experience
Dr. Drake is a fantastic surgeon. He has done two surgeries on my shoulders. One was a rotator cuff tear and the other he was able to repair a labrum and bicep tear and leave the cuff in tact. Both surgeries I recovered very quickly and with no complications. I now feel great and have no lingering issues. He is extremely knowledgeable and was not pushing for surgery. He will try other options first and use surgery as a last option. I also appreciate that prior to surgery, they will prescribe you all your medications as opposed to getting the prescriptions post surgery and having a family member go fill them while you are at home in pain.Their Hoffman Estates location is amazing. They have Physical Therapy in house so you can go to them if you choose and then all of your info and progression is right there in the system. They also have their own MRI so you don't need a script and then drive somewhere else to go get an MRI. The only knock is the phone system. It can take a long while t

Reverse shoulder replacement
I started out with shots but after a few years the shoulder needed replacing. Dr. Drake did an excellent job. My scar is virtually invisible. Recovery has been as expected. His PA Steve was very patient and understanding especially in the early stages. I'm still in PT but I'm very happy and pain free

The Best
I asked a supervisor at Striker, a medical instrument manufacturer, who is the best rotator cuff surgeon in the area. He said Dr. Drake. He did a fantastic job on a complete tear and 5 months later I already feel like I’m back to about 85%. Highly recommend Dr. Drake.

Very grateful!
I was experiencing increasing loss of range of motion and pain in my right arm. Dr Drake suggested non-surgical treatment first which gave me some time before having arthroplasty of the shoulder end of November 2023. I am so grateful to Dr. Drake and his staff for their incredible professionalism and care as I have been able to bounce back quickly and continue to gain strength in my arm. Dr Drake was very thoroughly in explaining the procedure and recovery. Again, his staff is truly amazing as well and have consistently been there for all of my calls and questions. I highly recommend Dr Gregory Drake. Thank you so much.

Total shoulder replacement, both shoulders
Dr. Drake operated total shoulder replacement on the right shoulder, March 2023, left shoulder, September 2023. In February 2024, I returned to work full time. I'm 66 yr old woman, I work 60 hr. weeks, heavy lifting required for job, lifting customers luggage in and out of vehicle all day, everyday.I lifted 20 pieces of large luggage 1st day return to work--how heavy do you pack? Yea! all heavy! ha! No strain lifting, no pain, no stiffness that evening. Got up and did it again next day and everyday since. Thank you Dr. Drake, your team, I'm back to work and happy to get back to work and doing and feeling the best in years.Dr. Drake you did a great job, guidance to get me back in the world, sleeping and daily life with no pain, after years of constant pain.If I can get here, anyone wanting to can too. Also, everyone who works at both offices, Elk Grove and Barrington, always nice and helpful.Thank you

Could not be happier
I just went in for my 1 year check up for a complete shoulder replacement. I couldn't be happier. Looking back I wish I would of done it 5 years ago. One of our family's closest friends had the same procedure and recommended Dr Drake. It wasn't until I meet with him that I had the confidence to move forward. He spent the time to explain all the options that I had and asked me how I would like to move forward. He did not push surgery put explain the pros and cons of each option. I spoke with 2 other surgeons but Dr Drake was the only one who could explain things in terms I could understand. He has a great team. Amy handled all the logistic for pre surgery , admittance to the hospital and following up with the Physical Therapist. They have their act together and handle all the details.

Dr. Drake is excellent and I would recommend him to anyone. This was my second rotator cuff and shoulder surgery in 4 months (I had a re-tear of my cuffs almost immediately after my first surgery with another orthopedic surgeon). Dr. Drake had very poor bones and joints to work with due to my osteoporosis and osteoarthritis but my surgery was a success and four months later I have improved way past expectations. I have almost full range of motion and mobility of my shoulder and I am continuing to gain more strength.

Amazing Experience!
I fell at work and fractured my left wrist and elbow and torn tendons in my right rotator cuff requiring surgery. The ER doctor recommended I see Dr. Drake at Core Orthopedics. His staff was able to get me in quickly and after a few tests, my surgery date was set. Dr. Drake operated out of Core's new state-of-the-art facility in Wisconsin. The staff there was amazingly patient, helpful and courteous and Dr. Drake spent time with me and my husband before surgery, answering our questions and assuaging our fears. He warned me that rotator cuff surgery was very painful, but to my surprise, the pain was manageable. I never had that nightmare pain and I truly believe it was due to Dr. Drake’s surgical skill and gentle care. My recovery is going very smoothly and I would recommend Dr. Drake to anyone without hesitation. He’s the best!!!

My experience with Dr. Drake was great overall. My rotator cuff surgery for my full thickness tear of the supraspinatus tendon was a major surgery but Dr. Drake and his team made it easy. I had minimal pain after surgery and with PT I now have my full range of motion back. Based on my experience, I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Drake. Thank you Dr. Drake for making me good as new!

Shoulder Surgery
My experience with Dr Drake has been nothing short of excellent. About a year ago Dr Drake performed a reverse shoulder replacement on me and in April of this year I had to have my other shoulder replaced. Both surgeries went very well. He is a soft spoken doctor. You can freely ask him questions without hesitation and he will give you an answer you actually understand. His staff is very courteous and helpful. I recommend Dr Drake to as many people as I can. He has taken away my pain and I am very grateful to get my life back!

Best of the Best
The unwritten rule is when you meet "the best" in any field, you share that information. Dr. Greg Drake is an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, but better than that, he is an outstanding person. He did not want to operate on me for years, until it finally became necessary. My minimally invasive procedure was pain free, and left me pain free at 69 years young. Dr. Drake never had his "hand on the door knob", always taking time to answer all my questions. Dr. Drake was more concerned about me prior to surgery, during surgery, and my follow-up visits than I was about myself. His PA, Nurses, & support staff added a real sense of 'family' to my surgery & visits. Dr. Bob

I Needed Shoulder Replacement Surgery
I came into Dr. Drake's office for a second opinion after having arthroscopic surgery on my left shoulder at a different clinic a year before. My arm was so bad following the first surgery that I missed a step on the stairs at home and broke my neck when my head hit the door in front of me. (I could not catch myself.) Again, my shoulder was weak and, in much pain from the arthritis. I will never forget Dr. Drake's words to me. He said, "there is no intermediate step to a shoulder replacement." I had the shoulder replacement within just a few weeks, after having testing to clear me for surgery before the end of the year. With physical therapy, my shoulder and arm grew stronger and without pain. I now have good use of my arm and shoulder again and am resuming activities I could not do for more than a year. I highly recommend Dr. Drake and his staff for joint surgery. They even took steps to preclude the nausea that I had after the two previous surgeries on my shoulder and neck.

Dr Drake and his staff are wonderful and caring. when my back started hurting again I decided to change to a new doctor with a recommendation from my Primary Care Physician. First visit, x-rays and MRI right in the building. Dr Drake met with me and decided on a plan of care to relieve pain. Received 2 Epidural Steroid injections. For the first time in 13 years and 3 surgeries I am pain free!!! Can hardly believe it. Easy to talk to and has a wonderful staff. Thank you again Dr Drake.

Dr Drake and his nurse are the best of the best! My husband and I recently had stem cell injections- their expertise and caring were unsurpassed. He also is treating my 87 yo mother who recently fractured her shoulder. He is helping her weigh quality of life vs going thru a major surgery. He is a gem!
