Pitiful
Don’t waste your time. You deserve better! Came highly recommended by a Nurse Practitioner. Scheduled an appointment. My appt was cancelled and the office closed because of the “weather.” This was the FOURTH DAY of the recent snow/ice storm. Strange, as I managed to get to work along with other essential healthcare workers…… Guess GI staff aren’t good in cold weather. Was told I would be contacted to reschedule. After 30 minutes on hold, I was basically told by a receptionist that “I lost my place in line. Get to the back,” as the next appt wasn’t available for another 6 weeks. “Oh well, you can see his NP………” That’s not who I asked to see. Today’s primary and specialty care is a disgraceful joke. They are evidently “above the rules.” “Just go the ER,” they like to say. I’d like to see them sit in a plastic ER chair, doubled over in pain and vomiting uncontrollably for 12 hours before the could even be triaged. I’ll find another practice

Not satisfied with Dr or Gastro One
I have gone to this Doctor back and forth for years with the same issues. Every time he tells me that I have nothing wrong with me when I have told him about my gi problems and reflux issues. His fix? I have attempted to change Doctors multiple times with Gastro One but was never able to. Nurse said that isn't their policy. NEVER heard of a business saying that I cannot get someone else to care for my needs. After going back and forth i wouldn't even see Dr. Rutland anymore, they would always send the nurse.

I have had several GIs since grade school and Dr. Rutland is my favorite, by far. I love the attention and compassion he has for his patients. I never feel rushed during my appointments and feel at ease asking questions and expressing any concerns. I have also had many procedures that involved anesthesia and Dr. Rutland is the ONLY GI who has ever taken the time to talk to you after you wake up to check on you. I highly recommend Dr. Rutland!

Dr. Rutland kept telling me there was nothing wrong with me. For a year and a half I suffered multiple abominable attacks. I kept asking if it was my gallbladder. He said NOTHING was wrong with my gall bladder and could not find the source of my pain. He ordered every scan possible, and still said nothing was wrong with me. I finally had enough and went to another facility. They diagnosed me as having gallstones in ONE DAY! They also said the gallstones showed up in all the scans I brought with me from Dr. Rutland. I requested to change doctors within the practice multiple times during this 1 1/2 years. Gastro One would not let me change doctors within the practice. There reason?, They basically said they didn't want to take patience for one doctor and give to another. It would be rude. The lady at the appointment desk said, "We just don't do that. It's not our policy." One day someone is going to actually die and then MAYBE the state board of health will do something!!!

Don't choose one of the doctor's at Gastro One if you expect patient care from the doctor while in the hospital. ALL THEY WANT TO DO ARE SIMPLE PROCEDURES WITHIN THEIR OWN PROCEDURE LOCATION. I CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE YOU THAT YOU WILL NOT SEE YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU ARE AN INPATIENT.

Would definitely NOT reccomend. Got a phone call 2 days before a one month follow up saying the appt. would need to be rescheduled due to a discrepancy in scheduling on their end. Meanwhile symptoms worsened, called and had to talk with a nurse to get an appointment within a reasonable time frame. After a 1 hr wait Dr. Rutland was somewhat rude and belittling (my opinion) and informed me the prescription written initially was wrong in regards to dosage, not a surprise my condition didn't improve
