Very Negative!
My husband was seen by Shaffer for 3 mo. In that time, he went from not being able to walk AT ALL to walking with a walker. When we went to his weekly appts Shaffer would ask how he was doing& my husband would talk about feeling stronger& the small victories he was having w/recovery. EVERY TIME Shaffer would sigh& say, “but you aren’t getting any better.” The last time, my husband told him it doesn’t matter how I’m feeling bcuz you’re just going to say I’m not getting better. Shaffer backpedaled& said outlook is an important part of healing. So my husband again told him about his victories that week AND AGAIN, Shaffer sighed& said, “but you aren’t getting any better.” !?!Schaffer’s idea of treatment was amputation or a knee fusion& knee replacement in a few yrs. I overheard him talking in the open about our unrealistic expectations& regardless of a 2nd opinion he was going to do what he wanted. It’s been a few years& my husband walks without a walker. I’m thankful we switched drs!

Rotator Cuff Visit
I saw Dr Shaffer for my left rotator cuff. The pain of lifting my arm was keeping me from preforming easy task. After some physical testing and medical history questions. It was decided my treatment should include a shot to relieve the inflammation then physical therapy. Dr. Shaffer was very professional and caring. I would recommend him for anyone having issues with there shoulders.

He was attentive and explained all of my options. I ended up having to get surgery and he accommodated my religious preferences for how I wanted to handle blood transfusing should I need it I have had had challenges with physicians not respecting my beliefs in the past. I would recommend anyone see Dr Shaffer. My hip was a success I was back to practice putting in two weeks and I was back to golfing in less than six weeks.

I had a shoulder arthroplasty by Dr Shaffer he spent a lot of time talking to me and explaining my options. He made me feel apart of the decision making process. He has the nicest bed side manner of any physician I have ever encountered. His staff was nice. I really could not have had a smoother surgery and a smoother recovery. My expectations were exceeded and I now have a full range of motion, better then I expected.
