Lai was great, her team sadly not
The Indian ultrasound tech degraded and humiliated me. When I told her we already knew that our baby may not be alive she laughed at us and told me to lay down. When we saw our baby didn’t have a heartbeat she had no sympathies. Absolutely worst experience in my life. She should not be working in such a sensitive field. I will actively tell people to avoid this place as it made me and my partner feel disgusted. The Dr was fine. She was clear and concise with her information. But the attitude of the ultrasound tech was appalling. First she complained that we got there too early. We got there 15 min early cause we were told to and to fill out paperwork. Then she said we interrupted her lunch. She laughed when I asked to use the restroom. Then laughed at me saying my bladder was too full. She had a random stranger come in the room. We asked her not to be there since my husband and I wanted privacy. There was nothing professional about this appointment besides Dr Lai.

Dr. Lai is the nicest doctor at Scripps. I have seen her for two of my pregnancies, and I always tell my friends to go to her. Even though she is a high risk doctor, her office is very peaceful and calm.

Highly recommend
My wife and I had an appt with Dr Lai today. Being a 'High Risk' office, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a very positive experience. I highly recommend Dr. Lai and her sonographer Kristen.

One of the best and most compassionate doctors
Dr. Lai is extremely compassionate and thorough. I met with her prior to getting pregnant for a consult as I have a pre-existing condition that makes me a high-risk pregnancy. She read my patient files prior to meeting with me and was super knowledgeable about my health issues by the time we spoke. She always wanted to consult with my other doctors to make sure everyone was on the same page. She makes you feel at ease, even with harder conversations and takes time to answer any and all questions and concerns. All of the ultrasound techs have also been very friendly.

Not sure if Dr. Lai is at both places, but I saw her at Scripps La Jolla Perinatology. I wanted to leave this review to let everyone know what a compassionate and kind Doctor Dr. Lai is. Sher really took her time in explaining everything in detail and showed so much empathy. I'm forever grateful that she went over my NIPT and NT scan with me, and helped me make the right decisions. She made a very difficult process so much easier during one of the very hardest times in my life. I highly recommend her. I look forward to seeing her again for my future pregnancy.

I really appreciate the care and attention I received. She was easy to talk to, showed a lot of concern and was very thorough in answering my questions, going above and beyond what I asked, which made me feel really comfortable. She also followed up with me to make sure I was doing okay. I can't thank her enough.

Inept and horrible doctor. It has taken me over a year to gain the strength to talk about how she ruined the ability for me to have the first bonding with my baby. She made judgements without ever meeting me, disobeyed the doctor in charge of my case and went behind everyone’s back to be hateful and spiteful all because she was upset that I cancelled an appointment with her in order to see my primary care giver. My husband was having a medical emergency and the nurse gave me permission to be with him instead of seeing Dr. Lai for a non emergency follow up that she made at the last second. Unbelievably, it has come to my attention that she has endangered at least two other patients against the advice of her senior partners, yet she still is allowed to practice at Scripps. I feel awful for any poor expectant mother who is unlucky enough to have her as their obgyn.
