Dr. Jennalou Hollnagel-Kauffman, DPM

In July 2022, I had a Bunionectomy performed my Dr JENNALOUISE HOLLNAGEL-KAUFFMAN. She was very kind and answered all my questions. After months of recovery, I noticed lingering pain and tenderness in both my bunion site and unexpectedly on the bottom portion of my foot. It has been one year since the surgery and I’m still having days where I can barely put weight on it. Oddly enough, it’s not every day that it’s non-weight bearing. The pain isn’t always influenced by weight. There are days when it’s very tolerable and other days where it hurts even though I’m not walking on it. I knew the recovery process would take time because I had the same surgery on my other foot previously by a different doctor. Recovery was predicted to take 6-8 weeks. I had off a couple months post surgery to recover and went back to work after her clearance. Weeks turned to months and I was surprised I was still experiencing so much trouble, especially a year post surgery. I reached out to Dr Jenna and voiced my concerns. She told me to call the office for a follow-up. I returned to the same doctor’s office she was at when I was under her treatment. They informed me Dr Jenna was no longer in their practice and she left on bad terms. While I was there, they gave me a Cortisone shot in my foot with hopes of relief. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. They referred me to a specialist who has been practicing over 30 years. After reviewing my images and assessing my range of motion, he informed me that the surgery would need complete reconstruction. He said that the screws used by Dr Jenna were way too long which could be the reason for the pain on the underside of my foot. Those screws would have to be replaced by shorter ones. He also showed me on my X-rays that the whole section between my large toe and 2nd toe were too far apart and needed realignment. He also noticed bone that should have been removed previously. He informed me that a CT scan would be needed to check the healing status from last year’s operation. Completely disappointed, I reached out to Dr Jenna and voiced my concern with the news I had just received. I let her know I would need the same surgery over again and asked her if I could be reimbursed for the money that was billed to me after insurance covered their portion. I felt compelled to ask considering her operation was completely unsuccessful. I explained that there will be a financial burden on my family due to repeated surgery expenses and having to miss work 2 months again. She apologized but said she had no control over reimbursement and there wouldn’t be any offered. She claimed I didn’t have that pain when I visited her previously for my post-op visit and that I was walking around on it. I agreed that I was able to walk on it but the concern was that it was still painful a year later and was interfering with my daily life. I expected pain the first few weeks but didn’t anticipate having trouble a year later. I made it clear that I wasn’t seeking pain medication and that my only goal was to have it completed right. She dismissed my concerns completely. I’m very disappointed with the results I received. Mistakes happen, but how you respond is what makes the difference. I’m not able to wear a shoe with any type of heel, even if it’s very low without instant, intolerable pain. Even with tennis shoes and supports, I’m still having trouble. There are so many shoes I currently own that I’m no longer able to wear due to the surgery being unsuccessful. I felt it wasn’t much to ask to reimburse me for my out of pocket costs considering she had already been paid several thousand dollars by my insurance to complete the surgery that should have been done correctly in the first place. I wish I had known ahead of time how awry the procedure would be. I hope this helps others who are considering her services.

I had to have surgery on my rt foot, it was done by: Dr. Jennalou Hollnagel-Kauffman. She is amazing, the surgery came out great and she explained everything to me without using terms I do not understand, when she explains something to you, you know exactly what to expect. She is a real professional, She is the only Doctor I trust 100%. for my rt foot/ankle, and I have had a few. We could sure use alot more Doctor's like her. I can't say enough about how amazing she is. I would definately recommend her to everyone I know that has foot/ankle problems.

Dr. Hollnagel recently performed an important surgery on me after suffering a major injury while playing sports. I'm an athlete who is worried about being able to participate in sports, extracurricular activities again and was extremely nervous about the entire process after such a bad injury. It was almost immediately after meeting with Dr. H I was reassured she had my best interest and the surgical outcome would be positive. Also, working in healthcare I knew what to look for in a Provider and Dr. H checked all the boxes and more. The surgery went exceedingly well and my experience has been better than I could have ever expected. Thank you again!

I have been under the care of Dr.JennaLou since mid March where she had to amputate my great toe. Her bedside manner in the hospital was by far superior and her follow up care has been wonderful.. Her instructions on care between visits are spoken without all the big medical terminology so that one could understand them. If you have problems with your feet and ankles this doctor is for you. Highly Recommended.!!!!

Dr. Hollnagel is the most compassionate caring physician that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I worked alongside Dr. Hollnagel and she was always the most knowledgeable, precise, thorough, determined physician I have ever had the privilege to work with, her patients well being and care is always at the forefront of everything that she does. I not only have the utmost respect for her I also trust her with my life and the life of my loved ones, she is the only podiatrist me or my family will ever go to.

Dr. Hollnagel is great! She demonstrates a lot of compassion and interest in her patients. She spends plenty of time listening to them as well as effectively communicating the plan of care to them.

I have worked with several podiatrists and she is one of the BEST! She shows HIGH level of expertise doing various surgical procedures and very professional. Very CARING AND FRIENDLY as well with her patients and colleagues. Will definitely go to her if a family member or I needs podiatrist consult!

When I moved to a new state I was looking for a foot doctor to help me continue my foot care with my diabetes. I found Dr. Hollnagel from a recommendation from my primary care doctor and she turned out to be one of the best doctors I have seen in my 67 year history. I have seen her for several years now, and she is very knowledgeable, very helpful and caring. Always explaining any procedure or diagnosis in depth. Her staff is always friendly and attentive. I would recommend Dr. Hollnagel very highly. I have recommended Dr. Hollnagel to my wife and some friends and everyone has told me that they were very satisfied with the care and treatment of Dr. Hollnagel.

I’ve seen Dr. Hollnagel-Kauffman twice now and have had the best experience! She is so friendly and welcoming and made me feel comfortable throughout my procedures! She was super thorough and answered questions I had before I even had the chance to ask them! Would recommend her 100%.

Dr. Hollnagel, Is very easy to talk with, she explains every thing that you ask, she makes you feel like family. I usually feel uncomfortable around doctors, not her. Im so glad that i found her!

She diagnosed the problem with my foot in just looking at it before x rays. They just confirmed what she told me. Her friendliness and compassion is wonderful but her knowledge in what she does is more impressive! Took my 15 yr old daughter to her for ingrown toenails and my daughter said she wouldn’t go to another doctor. She was so good with her.

When I broke my ankle and leg it was very traumatizing, but Dr. JennaLouise Hollnagel made me comforted and safe. She has changed my life and I will never go to another podiatrist. She has incredible bed side manner, confidence, and true care for her patients. Dr. JennaLouise has a professionalism that shinesand she made me feel important and not just another broken ankle.
