Dr. Joaquin Brieva, MD

As other comments have states, Dr. Brieva rushes through his work and is extremely difficult to work with. I will be finding another dermatologist. Save your money and time!

I met with Dr. Brieva today to address general skin sensitivity around my face, and this was a poor experience. While he was knowledgeable, he did not let me talk or actually discuss my experience. He looked at me and diagnosed 2 separate conditions before even asking why I was there today. I also watched him copy and paste the patient notes from google. I don't expect him to remember everything off the top of his head, but I can google my symptoms just fine.

Unfortunately, Dr. Brieva had misdiagnosed a very rare form of skin cancer. I also found his manner to be rushed, disinterested and superficial. He also brought in a bunch of interns to look at my mole without my consent, which made me quite uncomfortable. Showing his patients some humility would go a long way.

Dr. Brieva is really nice and knowledgable. He saw my skin and right a way put me on a right prescription. I was scared to start the med but he personally called me and comforted me. I am so thankful that I met him.

I would never go back to this doctor again. I understand he might be busy,but at least spend a couple of minutes in the exam room with me and talk to me. I had four issues I wanted addressed. I figured let me just get everything over with at once but he didn't give me an opportunity to tell him what I needed. I felt as though he just wanted to get out of there and get to his next patient. He addressed one issue and asked me if there was anything else and I told him the second and he took care of the second issue. Next thing I know he's gone and the nurse is bringing in information about a lesion that I had. I told her I wasn't done and ask to see him again. I had a skin tag under my arm that was pretty big so he froze it and acted like I was bothering him asking him to take a look at it. the skin tag did not freeze probably because he was holding his paint sideways and it really didn't hit the skin tag. I now have to contact Blue Cross Blue Shield to pay for another dermatologist.

I've had 3 appointments with Dr. Brieva, only one of which he was close to being on time to. The last two I had requested the first appointment in the day; when I get there, both times, 15 minutes after my appointment was supposed to begin someone else was called up to go in to see him. Both times I left as soon as I heard that. This last time, I saw him getting out of the elevator as I was leaving! If a doctor is this lazy about coming in, makes me wonder where else he cuts corners.
