Consult for pending inguinal hernia surgery to correct a previous surgery by another VA Dr..He is very knowledgeable and clearly explained the possible choices and effect of each choice. He gave tremendous preference to what my wishes were, in line with possible outcomes. I had the other side done by him 5 years ago with no problems.

I HAVE HAD MANY UN/PLEASANT EXPERIENCES AT SRC. I WAS SO AMAZED, THEREFORE, WITH HAVING A MOST INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH DR. JOEL DEAN, MD. HE IS PROBABLY ONE OUT OF 2-3 PROVIDERS I HAVE SEEN AT SRC THAT GAVE ME REAL CONFIDENCE. I WISH THAT ALL OF YOUR PROVIDERS WERE AS COMPETENT, PERSONABLE, RESPECTFUL AND PUT THEIR PATIENT FIRST. AND HE HAD A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR! HE IS ONE OF THE FEW DOCTORS THERE THAT USES COMMON SENSE. MAKES ME WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER GASTRO SURGERY JUST SO I COULD HAVE HIM TREAT ME AGAIN. LOL! I HAVE NOTHING BUT THE UTMOST CONFIDENCE IN HIM. I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW FABULOUS HE IS. MY APPT WAS 09/14

My visit was not remarkable — just a pre-op discussion of issues entailed in colonoscopy and re-anastomosis. But he & staff were courteous and thorough, as always. However, he saved my life back in December 2018, when nobody else would pay attention. He scheduled my colectomy for Christmas Eve Day because he didn’t want to delay. Everyone should know there is a general surgeon in the area who cares!

Everyone at the office was nice and friendly. Dr. Dean was explaining everything he was going to do he’s very thorough real good surgeon. The nurse was a exceptionally great . I would recommend Dr. Dean to anybody

I had the robot assisted sigmoid colectomy surgery performed by Dr. Dean. My recovery time was very minimal and surprisingly easy. He was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. I couldn't have chosen a better doctor to perform this surgery!

We would recommend him in a New York heartbeat! We had a special case, a friend who was having urinary tract (and colon) problems. Dr. Dean saw and diagnosed the problem right away, and sent us to a great urinary specialist. He followed up on our patient several times, called our patient and put him more at ease. He's terrific!
