Great Surgical Care
Very impressed with everything surrounding my grandsons peri operative admission at Duke. The follow up visit seemed rushed after driving 2.5 hours for a ten minute visit. Was not impressed with overall ancillary staff or security at Duke.

We had such a great experience at Duke Children’s Hospital with Dr. Wiener. He had to perform surgery on our 18 month old, which was super stressful. He was patient with us, answered all of our questions, and put us at ease! The day of surgery he and his team were full of support, and even called us during the operation to give us an update.the surgery went well, the recovery was near immediate, and our child was back to normal in no time. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Wiener has helped two of my children at Duke. He helped us diagnose and treat the same condition in both kids. Surgery was required for both. The experience we had with both girls was amazing. The surgery process was made easier by his care and experience and his availability to answer questions and discuss concerns. He is thoughtful in creating a plan of care and honest about options and likely outcomes. Highly recommend Dr. Wiener for any pediatric patient and will return to his care again should our kids require it.

Our situation started in the Duke ER one evening. They determined my son's ureter had a birth defect, that had caused damaged to his left kidney due to it causing urinary reflux. Side note our son was born at Wake Med. We met Dr. Wiener and his team shortly after. There were several steps to fix/remove the defect and damaged kidney, but Dr Wiener and his team explained exactly what would happen next and followed through. Our son came through the process with no complications.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Wiener. He is a loving doctor that truly cares about his patients and their parents. My son originally had his hypospadias repair at Brenner Children’s Hospital. For whatever reason, the original surgery didn’t take. The procedure had to be repeated with great care and attention to detail. My husband and I did our research to find the best of the best to fix our son. We are so grateful to have found Dr. Wiener at Duke. He did a wonderful job. Thank you!!

I would not give one star if I could. He mishandled the post surgery complications and the repair performed by him was also not correct

Dr. Wiener saved our son's kidney. In 2014, one of our prenatal ultrasounds revealed severe hydronephrosis (swollen kidney) due to a blockage in his ureter. Our OBGYN referred us to Dr. Wiener b/c he was "one of the best pediatric urologists in the country." He is reassuring, confident, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our son made it through surgery without complications and subsequently made a full recovery. Parents, we cannot possibly recommend Dr. Wiener highly enough. He truly cares.

Dr. Weiner performed an extensive abdominal surgery on our daughter in March 2018. She had bladder augmentation, Mitrofanoff and MACE procedures. Dr. Weiner is a highly skilled surgeon that was and is very attentive to the patient’s needs and we have been so fortunate to experience no complications. Due to the length of this surgery, Dr Weiner and one of his partners performed this surgery together which brought our family much comfort. We would highly recommend him.

I brought my son to see Dr. Wiener for a second opinion and I couldn't be happier that I did. Honestly, wished I would have sooner. My sons first appointment, Dr. Wiener spent close to an hour learning all my sons past surgeries and struggles along with an examination and answering all of my millions of questions. He never tried to rush the appointment and made me feel comfortable asking as many questions as I needed. He's great with my toddler and gave him a great surgical outcome!
