Dr. Joseph Poku, MD

I had to have surgery at TSAOG, and Dr. Poku was my anesthesiologist. I always have nausea and vomiting after surgery due to anesthesia. I expressed this to Dr. Poku at the time of surgery and he was able to come up with a combination of medicines that were effective at preventing from vomiting and feeling nauseated- it was the first time in years. In addition he made me feel super comfortable and was super friendly. If you can pick your anesthesiologist, I would suggest picking him.

I do not believe a patient chooses who their Anesthesiologist will be for a procedure, however if you ever get the opportunity I would highly recommend Dr. Joseph Poku. While I was being being prepped for the OR, Joseph stopped by and introduced himself. He took the time to explain in detail what to expect and exactly what he would be continually monitoring. I appreciate that he also explained that he had the medicines to control each one. What ever anxiety I may have had, melted away by him taking the time to discuss his role in the OR. What a blessing to have a trained professional with a sincere caring way about everything we discussed. Thank you again Joseph! M. Ernst
