Amazing Doctor!
I was referred to Dr. Santoso by my primary care for a large fibroids. I was extremely nervous but he was so patient and so kind. I was in terrible pain all the time and bleeding all the time. After some tests and imaging he recommended hysterectomy and wasn’t sure about doing robotic because the size of the mass but he said he would try and he was successful! I had my surgery January 2025 and it went better than I had expected with minimal discomfort and am happy to say I am pain free and happy again! I had been miserable for so long. I know it’s scary but for anyone dealing with this type of situation just do what he recommends and you won’t regret it! Thank you so much Dr. Santoso for getting me back to my “normal” self after suffering for so long!

In 2018, during my routine exam, I mentioned pelvic pain and excessive bleeding to Dr. Santoso. He listened attentively and immediately took action, thoroughly examining my uterus. Less than a week later, I received a life-changing diagnosis—CANCER. Not just any cancer, but a rare and aggressive form: neuroendocrine cancer. The tumor was initially found in my uterus but later lab results revealed neuroendocrine cervical cancer. Dr. Santoso scheduled surgery, and shortly after, I began chemotherapy and radiation. Throughout the entire journey, he was not only highly knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive and compassionate. His expertise in neuroendocrine cancer is exceptional, and he personalized a treatment plan tailored specifically to my needs. He addressed every question and concern with patience and clarity, ensuring I felt supported every step of the way. He talked with my family expressing his concern. Dr Santoso and his entire staff went above and beyond to provide the best treatment during this challenging diagnosis. Now, in 2025, I can proudly say that I have no trace of cancer! Dr. Santoso’s skill, dedication, and encouragement made all the difference. I am forever grateful for his expertise and care—he truly saved my life. If you are looking for an oncologist who is thorough, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in his patients, Dr. Santoso is the one!

Forever grateful for Dr. Santoso's expertise
I was referred to Dr. Santoso by my gynecologist because a large mass was discovered. Dr. Santoso took his time with me to explain everything in great detail including the possibility of the mass being cancerous. The size was iffy on whether or not robotic surgery would be an option, but he was able to perform a radical hysterectomy using robotics. My surgery was October 11, 2023. Initially it was suggested that it was cancer, but pathology said the mass was benign.I highly recommend Dr. Santoso! He and his staff were very comforting and informative during a high stress situation. I am grateful for his knowledge and skill, and I truly appreciate their compassion they offered me and my husband during a very difficult time. I also want to express that Dr. Santoso is extremely kind and engaging. Forever grateful!

Excellent Patient Care. Superb Doctor.
Dr. Santoso is amazing. He listens. He communicates well and is serious about the patient's well-being. He is visible. He pulls no punches about being straightforward about his responsibility as the doctor but lets you know that as the patient you must do your part as well.He gives you comfort about his expertise. I highly recommend Dr. Santoso to any woman who is hesitant, afraid, and looking for answers---truthful answers from a compassionate doctor who will go out of his way to take excellent care of you! Dr. Santoso has an excellent 'bedside manner'. He never treats you as though your questions are unfounded or a bother to answer. Dr. Joseph Santoso is the best of the best!

I was referred to Dr. Santoso by my primary care physician after discovering endometrial hyperplasia. From the beginning, Dr. Santoso made me feel at ease by his personal approach, making connections through conversation, and reassuring me he was going to take care of me. After my first appointment, I believed his recommendation was the right path for me, so I proceeded with a robotic hysterectomy. His confidence, expertise, and professionalism is unsurpassed. He makes you feel like you are the most important patient. Fortunately, my outcome was no cancer, but even if it had been, I would have trusted Dr. Santoso going forward. I highly recommend Dr. Santoso.

Scared and alone
SO comforting when at the age of 49 I was scared and alone.I was flown to him from out-of-state for emergency surgery! My wonderful husband and parents were hours away, but he made me feel ... no words ... except secure and that for that upcoming time period, I was his ONLY concern. And at my post op visit today, once again, I was his only patient.SO genuine and caring.I cannot say enough.

meeting Dr. Santoso via telephone
I met Dr. Santoso via telephone after my wife had been airlifted to Baptist Memphis - Womens. He explained to me that my wife was suffering from a 13cm ovarian mass. He informed me this was a serious surgical condition. I told Dr. Santoso that I was 2 hours away. He stated it could not wait that long. In the meantime, the surgical staff was assembled, successful surgery was performed and post op went off without a hitch. I met Dr. Santoso 5 October in-person. He has THE best bedside manner, very thorough with the procedure and gave us the best news. It was benign. I have great respect and trust in this doctor.

Encouragement
I have just finished my five-year checkup with Dr. Santoso. I HATE cancer, but I love people who are willing to help patients fight to get their lives back; such are Dr. Santoso and his very capable staff. In the beginning, I was terrified, but he convinced me I would make it. I admit, during treatment, I sometimes felt overwhelmed, even like giving up. Thank God for kind-hearted, compassionate people like this staff who encouraged me to keep living. I now not only have my life back, I also have a passion for living every day! Again, I hate cancer, but I have learned to see and care for others because people loved and cared for me. If you are on a journey toward regaining your life from cancer, don't you dare give up. There are people, like me, who are cheering you on! Dr. Santoso, Mary Crigger, and all the staff at BMC are in your corner. You are not fighting alone.

Wonderful and brilliant
I recently saw Dr Santoso for removal of a large mass. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous. I cannot say enough good things about him and his entire office. Dr Santoso is friendly, professional, and has a wonderful bedside manner. He truly cares. His knowledge and experience are awe inspiring. He spent time answering all of my questions and putting my mind at ease. I am in the medical profession myself and have known many doctors. He is a rare and wonderful balance of brilliant, down to earth, and caring. My surgery went well and I felt like I was in great hands from pre to post op. Many people are apprehensive when they hear "oncology". But I could not ask for better care and I encourage anyone who is referred to at least talk to him. I don't have words enough to describe how amazing he is. His entire office is wonderful-especially his nurse Mary who is an absolute angel. Thank you Dr Santoso!

Highly Recommend! Highly knowledgeable and kind!
The need to see a Gynecologic Oncologist is not a welcoming event for any of us. However, the sooner the better. I am thankful to have been referred to Dr. Santoso. After being referred--I researched Dr. Santoso and found remarkable reviews and work history. Meeting him and his nurse Mary was "uplifting" and I felt an instant confidence and trust in his judgement and treatment. Testing VIN3 -- I was in the final stage before classified as cancer that he successfully removed. I will continue seeing Dr. Santoso for my regular exams. He is very personable and kind and this is huge in a fearful and very private situation. His staff is professional and 'uplifting'. Appointments are easy to schedule and through numerous visits they have always been very punctual. For anyone needing an gyn-oncologist, I know your fear. I encourage you, do not delay and consider Dr. Santoso--he's been a blessing to me and others...and hopefully for you!

Healed
Dr. Santoso and his staff has been amazing, they go above and beyond every single time. They care, they love, they listen, committed, concerned, always there. I am at the end of my journey with this team, but they will always be a part of me and I will always be a part of them. Dr. S healed me! Was it always easy - NO! Was I very sick at time - absolutely! But they were always there, no matter what. I know the good, the bad and the ugly of cancer. My story is a story of complete healing and living to enjoy the rest of my life to the fullest, because of Jesus and Dr. Santosos' team! Love to all!

Surviving to Thriving
I was referred to Dr. Santoso from my oncologist as a mass was found in my pelvic region in a cat scan. From referral to surgery was 7 days, which was fine with me as I am a 2 time cancer survivor. Dr. Santoso and staff made this process as seamless as possible, I did not want any delay for the surgery. Time is important when dealing with the possibility of cancer. Dr. Santoso also held my hand as I was scared that I might be a 3 time loser. The care I received was excellent from the pre-op to discharge. Good news, surgery went well and the mass was non-cancerous and I am just leaving Dr. Santoso's office with a clean bill of health after my 2 week post-op. Thank you all for excellent care. For anyone facing these kinds of decisions, please don't wait. Let the professionals do what they do best and that is to give you the possibility of surviving to thriving!!

Cervical Cancer Survivor
I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2011 and had surgery, radiation, and chemo. It reoccurred in 2013 (Stage 4) with additional chemotherapy which resulted in a clear scan after all treatments. Cancer reappeared 3 years later on my spleen with additional chemotherapy. Through everything total, i have had 108 bags of chemo and never got sick. During chemo treatments i would keep my electrolytes up by drinking 2-3 sugar free Propels. I also did this daily. I also kept my immune system up by exercise and supplements (such as Juice Plus), and also kept my faith strong. Also, in my diet i used no sugar with the exception of Stevia. I have been cancer free now for over 4 years. Dr. Santoso, Mary, and the entire staff have been amazing during this entire time.
