Dismissive and unkind
He brushed aside my concerns and did not answer my questions. He seemed visibly annoyed that I was asking him about my care plan, and wanted to know details about my diagnosis, to the point where a nurse stepped in and began to take over the explanation because he was not interested in telling me about my own condition. He tried to discharge me from the hospital without helping me create a pain management plan and downplayed the pain that I was in. This person should not be working in healthcare, especially not women’s healthcare.

Lack of Empathy
I had a review with Dr. Bohrer. I just have to say he lacked basic communication skills to discuss the difficult situation. It was difficult to understand and he seemed distracted.

I had a consultation with Dr. Justin Bohrer in July 2024 and it was disappointing and stressful. As a black pregnant woman, I felt Dr. Bohrer was arrogant, dismissive, and condescending. He even smirked when I questioned his approach.Dr. Bohrer contradicted the diabetes educator's recommendation to start with diet changes and exercise before medication. He insisted on medication immediately, despite what the educator had told us. The conflicting information was extremely stressful.I ended the consultation because Dr. Bohrer was unwilling to listen. He was unprofessional and mean-spirited.Black maternal health requires providers to listen, trust patients' experiences, and respect their agency. It pains me that Dr. Bohrer goes against these principles.
