I wish I had read these reviews before I saw her, but I was so desperate for care that I went in blind. Everyone saying they left feeling even worse than they went in are spot on! I am experiencing severe depression and anxiety after losing my parents within 13 months of each other. I have a wonderful therapist but I need a psychiatrist for medication. I thought this would be a slam dunk, as all my answers to the pre-appointment screening scream depression. However, at the end of an hour of tears and vulnerability, she ended up dismissing me, saying, “I can’t help you. Good luck.” Good luck?! What professional says that to someone who is telling them they feel hopeless and alone?! She should lose her license.

1st time meeting her Telehealth appointment
Telehealth
I was really looking forward to meet Dr. Khatchatrian as I am going thru a very difficult time seeking for help and she absolutely made me feel worse on the first minute she connected the meeting. She screamed off to turn off the background noise. I recently had twins and going thru postpartum depression and anxiety I have my 2 main therapists which are amazing and she was going to be my physiatrist therapist. I have never been told to shut off my babies music on the background as they are usually doing gym time so I can get thru my therapy session. Yes, babies where are making noises on the background and she seemed to be so bothered by it that made me feel like I was doing it wrong. Immediately requested not to continue or even start the session and to be refunded. Very unprofessional as she deals with people like me that are vulnerable and are seeking help and not to be put down like she made me feel. Not only that but she was on top late to our session. Telehealth
I saw Dr. Khatchatrian for a couple years and was overall pretty ambivalent about her demeanor and service. She seemed like a generally nice person, but she's very to the point and abrupt. That lack of bedside manner can be disconcerting at times. The way she spoke to me about medications felt accusatory, and I left most of our appointments feeling small and like I had done something wrong. Now that I've been seeing another doctor for the same medications, I realize that her behavior was inappropriate and not industry standard. Dr. Khatchatrian required me to purchase an expensive blood pressure machine and test for her during telehealth meetings, regardless of the fact that I'm not a medical professional and would get wildly different blood pressure readings each time I did them. It felt like she had me jump through a ton of hoops. It didn't feel great.

Well I should have listened to all of the negative reviews and I didn't.. boy are they spot on. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to her. I didn't listen to the reviews, and thought 'well I'll give it a try.. I can get along with anyone.' She's EXTREMELY rude, impatient and isn't interested in listening. If you try to elaborate in the tiniest way, she interrupts. She doesn't want to hear it. She's very cold and insensitive. I've never had to write a review like this, but after my virtual appointment I thought I would save someone from going through the same thing. After she gathered all my information, she said she would only refill ONE of two of my prescriptions, because she didn't agree that I should be on something that I've been on for 15 years and has kept me COMPLETELY stable. This is after trying every other medication that there is in past years prior, with no luck. I told her I'm stable and have no interest in changing my treatment plan. I mean why mess with someone's medication who's completely stable? She abruptly told me to find someone else and basically hung up immediately. I'm still in disbelief.

Dr. K is very straight forward and works best if you are straight forward and to the point as well. Ask your questions without a monologue and answer hers the same way. It was nice being her patient, but I decided to discontinue meds.

Great Psychiatrist
Telehealth
Dr. Khatchatrian is strict and goes by the books, but her treatment plans work. We worked together to get my medications sorted out and her professional help changed my life for the better. I am able to enjoy life now without any negative symptoms whatsoever. Couldn't have asked for a more effective psychiatrist to help me with my bi-polar disorder.

Not for everyone
I was having a meltdown, screaming at Doctor K and telling her she had no compassion or understanding. But I was wrong. She is very clinical and tries to be objective, so she asks questions. She is currently helping me through a medication change. She is a very good doctor, but you will not get a warm and fuzzy bedside manner with her. This is not who she is. She is a scientist. and if take her as such she will help you.

Do NOT go to her
She only spent 15 minutes with me for my initial appointment and only asked me screening questions designed to diagnose Bipolar. She then diagnosed me with bipolar even though I've never been manic, prescribed me an inappropriate medication, then accused me of being difficult and faking a bad reaction. She's unprofessional and obsessed with diagnosing you as bipolar - stay far away

Do not go to this lady. I had a virtual visit with her back in March and I felt sick even paying her after… Very unprofessional due to the fact that she answered a personal phone call in the middle of our session! She would not let me elaborate or speak much - interrupting me numerous times and asked me very generic and scripted questions. I would never trust her advice and would NEVER see her again.

Just no
No compassion, cold, rude, insensitive, and belittling. Her intake eval questions were odd and felt incomplete. Asked me a lot about if I have manic feelings, energy level, and tested my memory with weird questions but didn’t ask me anything about my OCD symptoms which I forgot to mention to her. She asked me my education level and i said “graduated college”. When she found out I got my associates degree she said “oh so you didn’t finish”. I said no, I did finish. And she said “well 2 years is just junior college so you didn’t finish”. Excuse me? I have my degree in cardiac sonography and I didn’t finish college? Horrible doctor. Paid $50 for her to belittle and rush me outta there and told me to keep taking the same meds I am already taking and to not change anything. Ok?

Go to someone else.
I am with everyone that has left a review. My experience was awful. She asked very scripted, general questions, ignored my concerns and told me I was likely bipolar. The amount of anxiety I had during this appt was terrible. Also, 3+ students tuned in on our session and I was never asked if I was okay with this.

She is the worse psychiatrist ever. She has no compassion and lacks the ability to help mentally ill patients other than giving them medication. If your medication does not help you she will abandon you like she did me and tell you to find another doctor because all she knows how to do is write a prescription. No counseling whatsoever just more drugs.

Dr Khatchatrian was not helpful at all. She would not listen, rushed the appointment, and was very cold. I found information on a new treatment which was proving very successful for my condition. I took her information. She knew nothing about this treatment and refused to even look at the information I had brought for her. I found another Psychiatrist who has been very helpful and am now receiving that treatment. . I would not recommend Dr Khatchatrian.

My experience was not a good one. Just as others have mentioned on this website, she said I was probably bi-polar, even though I don't have bi-polar symptoms, and prescribed an anti-psychotic drug. Didn't go with her recommendation and made an appointment to see another doctor.

All she did was give me more anxiety after our call. Would not recommend. I have been to four psychiatrists in three states, all of them were interested in my life and why I am the way I am. Flet like this doctor was giving me a computer test of A and B questions and every time I tried to talk to her about my life, felt she was annoyed and went back to her A and B questions.

Dr K has been so helpful to me. She definitely has a cold way about her, but that does not mean she isn't a good doctor. She's been very thorough and careful with prescribing the right meds for me. She just is all business when it comes to getting to the bottom of what you need. She definitely is not a therapist, but a very good psychiatrist.

Short appointment, she didn't read any of the notes I sent ahead of time and just asked me about everything again. Tried to diagnose me with bipolar disorder even though I have never experienced a "manic episode" in my entire life (unless depressive episodes can last 17+ years?). I see from other reviewers that she really thinks everyone is bipolar. Nothing useful from the appointment, scheduling with another doctor, have to wait several more months now.
