Dr. Kelly Mathes, DO

My daughter is Downs Syndrome and 41 years old. She is overweight which research shows is typical..Our appointment with Kelly (I won't refer to her as a Doctor because she doesn't deserve that recognition) was terse, rude, non compassionate, not even helpful with our concerns! She simply blamed us, as parents, for her weight issues.My daughter was born with a hole in her heart, 11 pneumonias by 9 months old, bi-lateral capsular plication (this means had to have both of her legs 'broken' and placed so the joints would fit into the sockets) requiring plates and pins. This was at 18 months and a second surgery 9 months later to remove the hardware and required body casts, underarms to toes, replaced every three weeks until age 3.At 4 she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and we spent every day of 9 months at Milwaukee Children's Hospital.And this woman has the audacity to tell me that I'm at fault for something now after having having gone through protecting my child

Kelly is very arrogant and rude. She doesn't listen to you. She pushes her agenda and disregards anything you say. Had to tell her this is not going to work for her to be my doctor because she wouldn't listen to anything I was saying. I do not recommend her. However, her staff was very pleasant.

I moved to the area and needed a new doctor. I chose Dr. Mathes and am very happy with her. She took time to talk to me and get to know me.

My insurance requires I get a physical every year, so I scheduled with Dr. Mathes. I was reluctant to do so based on all the bad reviews, but I had to get my physical in. The appointment was fine. We covered my lab results and she went through my medical history. As it turns out she coded the appointment as a physical AND an office visit resulting in me being billed out of pocket since she "advised or treated" conditions. The two conditions I have are well managed by diet and exercise, so her "advising and treating" were non-existent. Turns out Thedacare is about as honest as a used car lot and Dr. Mathes is just another salesman. Watch out that you don't get charged for rustproofing you didn't want.

She was very rude doesn’t listen to your concerns. I personal work for ThedaCare and this treatment is not like ThedaCare. She had no compassion for patients

Rude, insulting, doesn't listen. She scored the Hat Trick. Almost walked out my appointment for the first time.

My doctor was unavailable so I scheduled an appointment with Kelly Mathes, who was condescending and did not seem very knowledgeable. I had several concerns and for each one she referred me to a specialist but wouldn't make any recommendations as to where I should go. For hip problems, she did not do any imaging but rather wrote out a prescription for a medicine that reacts with one I am currently on. Then, without knowing what the issue was she told me to begin exercising and start PT. Apparently, resting the joint is the prescribed course of action. What bothers me as much as the perceived incompetence, is that when I asked if she had any hip exercises she refused to provide any and said she "wouldn't play PT-lite" in a rude tone.

Concerned about paperwork details not big picture. Not a good choice for patients with lots of health issues. Doesn’t use common sense. Focused on computer system records rather than patient needs or concerns. Arrogant.
