Dr. Kenneth Donohue, MD

Under the care of Dr Donohue, my bone healed, no surgery (3 orthopedic surgeons said I must have surgery: to realign the bone fragments, stabilize transverse fracture, non-operative failure rate is too high, only way to resolve swollen left arm & hand), & my recovery progress is exactly as he told me with 100% range of motion. He was fully booked but fit me in. He is the only doctor who referred me to a hand therapist upon seeing the edema in my left hand. He is attentive, caring, kind, compassionate, observant & exudes quiet confidence in his abilities. He has the highest integrity - he puts the interest of his patient first. Dr Donohue is a great surgeon (reputation, reviews), but he is so much more - he is a great physician. I write this review to thank Dr Donohue for the exceptional and amazing doctor that he is, & help others find him (a doctor they could trust) & avoid the long journey & delay I went through in my quest to find a great doctor. From my heart, thank you Dr Donohue.

Dr. Donohue is one of the best doctors I have met. In past, I had a rotator cuff surgery and had an unfortunate experience with tissue scarring, recovery took almost two years. I therefore looked for a different surgeon for my current rotator cuff issue (other shoulder) and chose Dr Donohue. Just meeting him for the first time was very comforting and reassuring for me as he explained pros and cons of what needed to be done. He operated upon the massive tear that required repairing with graft. The surgery went very, very well. All the staff members at the Yale surgery center were very helpful and respectful making the whole experience the best it can be. Post operative recuperation with Physical Therapy was recommended and guided by Dr. Donohue's suggestion at Yale's physical therapy facility. That also was very professional and effective and made me totally fit within 6 months! If I could give Dr. Donohue more than 5 Star rating I would! A massive THANK YOU!

Intensive surgery was a success. Dr Donohue and The Yale New Haven team are the best, and I recommend them to everyone in need of care.

Dr. Kenneth Donohue has replaced both my shoulders successfully. I have suffered with severe arthritis of my shoulders for over thirty years. I had an unsuccessful partial replacement of my right shoulder in 2005. As recently as 2018, I had been told that the failure of my shoulder replacement was inexplicable and that I shouldn't replace my unusable left shoulder. The pain was chronic and severe. I was forced to give up my hobbies and all work involving raising my arms. In 2023 my shoulders caused severe problems in my neck. The neurologist recommended shoulder replacements as the only solution. I was fearful that I would encounter the same response as before, that the failure of my partial shoulder was inexplicable that there was nothing wrong. On my first visit Dr Donohue told me that there was a problem and that it was severe. The relief was incredible. He was able to assess the problem when other doctors couldn't. I now have full use of my shoulders. He has restored my life.

I had shoulder surgery with Dr. Donohue in November 2023. It has been eleven months and I could not be more pleased with the results. The surgery and recovery went better than I could have imagined - I needed barely any pain medication and by April 2024 I was playing multiple rounds of golf per week. I have regained my mobility and increased the quality of my life. Dr. Donohue was professional and informative before and after surgery. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Donohue did an excellent job repairing my elbow monteggia fracture dislocation. He used multiple plates and screws to repair this complex fracture. Dr. Donohue thoroughly explained my surgical needs and addressed any questions that I had prior to and after the surgery. I was treated with kindness by Dr. Donohue and his team. In six months, I was able to return to competing as a master track and field athlete in javelin, shot put, triple jump, and high jump, performing just shy of my personal bests. I highly recommend Dr. Donohue as an orthopedic surgeon. I am so grateful to have returned to my active lifestyle and to participate in all the activities that bring me joy!

Dr. Donohue has been the best doctor for all reasons: speaking to me at length about all the concerns involved with the revision, providing me with full knowledge of all the pros and cons of the surgery, never pushing me to make a decision about the surgery, doing a meticulous job before with full diagnostics of my shoulder and surrounding tissues, and then doing a perfect revision reverse replacement of my shoulder, which had a failed implant from a previous replacement. The previous implant had failed and Dr. Donahue took several hours to remove the previous implant and all of the pieces, debriding the area fully before he placed the new implant. He did a remarkable job! Now, I'm completely functional again with my shoulder!

I had fallen and tore my rotator cuff that required 9 anchors. Dr. Donohue repaired my rotator cuff and made sure I saw a P.T. that worked with rehabbing my shoulder the way he wanted it done. I am very pleased with his work. He is kind and attentive.

Dr. Donohue is a very thoughtful person who cares deeply about his patients, and the team he surrounds himself with are as he is, they respect and care for each and everyone of their patients, my experience and time I spent with them was wonderful. He is most definitely a blessed person.

I am an old bodybuilder and power lifter. When I tore my triceps I was a very active person and I was concerned that I would not recover. I went to Dr Donohue and expressed my concerns. He explained the surgery and recovery and gave me some timelines. It has been 5 months since my surgery and I have full use of my arm. I am back to 100% with zero pain. I just started working out again and feel great. Dr Donohue said it would take 6 months. I am 100% in 5 months. I strongly recommend Dr Donohue

Everything about surgery was explained.Pre surgery test were scheduled.I was told what doctors I had to see prior to surgery.Was given a nurse navigator that kept intouch with me before and after surgery.Was in hospital overnight,little pain night of surgery,after going home had no pain.I’m 3 months post surgery and going to PT. Back to driving and slowly goin back to my actives.

From my first visit to Dr. Donohue, I knew I was in good hands. He was and continues to be kind, patient, and happy. He explained the surgery I needed clearly. The surgery, anatomic shoulder replacement, was a success. My scar is barely visible thanks to his surgical skill. At each follow-up visit I never felt rushed. I had a great experience with Dr. Kenneth Donohue, who repaired a massive tear in my supraspinatus tendon. His skill and bedside manner were exceptional, and the hospital staff were efficient and kind. Six months post-surgery, I'm back at the gym lifting light weights with only minor stiffness. Amazing doctor. I had a difficult fracture. 3 areas. Then again,what fracture isn’t difficult? He was highly recommended from staff, patients and other colleagues in all different specialties. He communicated every step of the process and provided time to ask any questions I may have had. Super busy doctor and Rightfully so!!!! I trusted him. Dr. Donohue came highly recommended by a friend who had both shoulders replaced, and I was not disappointed. Dr. Donohue is efficient and professional, and I recovered in less time than I imagined with full range of motion less than 3 months after surgery. When the time comes to replace the other shoulder, there will be no question about what doctor to call.

Was so lucky to find Dr. Donahue through a friend. I had been experiencing severe shoulder pain. My previous shoulder dr. Kept giving cortisone injections vs. having the replacement but they no longer worked. The day I met Dr. Donahue he had a surgery cancellation so I grabbed it. 4 and one half months and I am back to swinging a golf club!

Dr Donohue is an incredible surgeon! I was treated for a shoulder injury and he performed an arthroscopic biceps tenodesis. He has an incredible team who pays significant attention to detail. I received the greatest of Care. The entire staff at Yale medicine provides such exceptional patient care. Dr. Donohue gave me my life back! I had a thorough office examination, referral sent for physical therapy, and a comprehensive post-op protocol that mapped out my recovery timeline. I highly recommend Dr. Donohue, not only because he is a gifted physician, but even more so because he is an incredible human being! Dr. Donohue was the second doctor I visited for my right hand pain. He replaced my knuckle in mid November. I'm at 75 degrees flex and he thinks that could improve more over time. This was an old injury and the pain had gotten worse over time. I'm now pain free. Thanks You Dr. Donohue

I’ve had 3 previous shoulder surgeries & was having a lot of pain & limitations. Dr Donohue worked with me to find a good outcome procedure -Arthroscopic Biceps tenodesis. Everything from preop visit to surgical center post & 6 mos visit was excellent! I highly recommend his team! Anesthesia Dr & block was perfect! I’ve taken recovery slowly as I’m almost 65-but my shoulder feels a 100% better & can use shoulder again-will try golf and tennis down the road some. I highly recommend his team and surgical center-you too will be pleased to have your shoulder movement stability back.
