If zero were possible I’d put it
Dr. Bowen is the reason my mom is facing terminal cancer. After beating cancer once, it was Bowens negligence and lack of care in her patients that her carelessly assess my moms needs and conditions despite the frequent check ups. She coincidentally missed every sign of severe cancer building over time. I say this for anyone dealing with cancer so you don’t have to face what my family is going through. This woman should lose her medical license. The lack of empathy is disgusting.

A doctor limited by staff at least
The billing department for Dr Bowen's office called and berated my wife to pay them as a cash patient. When my wife explained that Dr Bowen is in network for her insurance, the person in the billing department called her a liar and after 40 minutes of yelling got her to pay through her FSA. This person accused, verbally accosted, and tore down a pregnant woman with cancer to the point of bawling. This kind of behavior is not only unwarranted, it is extraordinarily unprofessional and we will no longer be receiving treatment from Dr Bowen as a result. We have both verified that Dr Bowen is in network for our insurance, meaning this person did not know what they were talking about on top of behaving horribly.A doctor should be accountable for their staff and how their office is run, I can only imagine what is going on behind the scenes if this is how they treat their patients/customers.

Too little, too late
I am sad to have to write this, but I think it needs to be said for the benefit of other breast cancer patients. Dr. Bowen was my doc for 10 years. She is cheerful and upbeat and takes time to explain. After my first recurrence (7 years after the 1st DX), she thought I looked healthy, so she didn't order any scans post-lumpectomy. For three years I mentioned unusual fatigue and dysfunction/trembling in one arm. Still no scans and no alarm. Then I injured that arm, and the orthopedist found extensive cancer in the bone. Stage 4/metastatic breast cancer in multiple bones, obvious once I got a PET. I feel stupid that I believed/trusted her, although she is very likable. I will be in treatment for the rest of whatever life I have left.

When the doctor treats based on stats not patient
Dr. Bowen was very knowledgeable. So knowledgeable, she confidently put me into a box. Problem was, my cancer grew right back for years while I was in that nice box. I even tried labeling the box for Dr. Bowen to respond, seeing I didn’t belong. “Hey, Dr. B, there’s another lump, right here where the other one was.” And “Hey Dr. B, having a hard time here. Can’t seem to take Tamoxifen”. But you see, she was so knowledgeable, so she’d labeled my box as “the nice cancer” box. So in there I stayed, until last month when my body screamed louder than ever, get. out. Of the box.

After diagnosed with stage 2, Triple Negative breast cancer, Dr. Bowen became my Oncoligist. She oversaw my chemotherapy, and followed my surgery and radiation treatments. She continues to follow my recovery, and ongoing screenings. Her bedside manner is warm, with genuine regard for my health and well-being. She is brilliant, and I feel confident in her abilities. She’s an outstanding doctor! She takes time to see that every detail is explained in a way that I understand and feel comfortable with. She answers all my questions, and I feel a sense of control. I’m beyond grateful for the treatment and care I’ve received (and continue to receive) from Dr. Bowen.
