Dr Shannon took time and listened to all of my concerns and addressed each one to include reviewing X-rays MRI, etc. He made suggestions for my care based on all of this and made follow up appointments.

Caring for the patient
I initially inquired about Dr. Shannon to get a second opinion for my back injury from 2002. My previous orthopedic Dr's seemed to want to continue treating me with medication. I was looking to fix the problem rather than cover it up with pills. Dr. Shannon took his time to review the MRI images with me answering every question I had without hesitation. Very professional made me feel comfortable and confident with his abilities. So now I say, 'Let's do it!'

Great addition to Midlands
I was transferred to Dr. Shannon after my previous doctor left. He seemed more interested and involved. He listened to me and explained things well. I am very happy to have him on my care team.

Excellent Surgeon
I feel better now, 3 months post surgery, than I've felt in the last 10 years. He is very confident in his ability and based on my experience, he should be confident.

Visit was very pleasant. He was thorough and easy to talk to. Unfortunately, follow through has not been good. A prescription for pain medication had not been sent to my pharmacy by 4:30 pm the day after the visit. Also, a MRI Imaging order had not been sent by 4:00 pm the next day either.

Post surgery visit
Dr. Shannon performed L4/L5 alignment and fusion surgery on me 7 weeks ago and I could not be more pleased with the results. I am well on the way to a full recovery. His skill and expertise is the reason for my surgical success. I cannot thank Dr. Shannon enough!

Excellence
Dr. Shannon completely resolved my severe pain from multi-level disc failure and spinal stenosis. His skill amazes me; I don't know how he does what he does in such a confined space and so thoroughly that I got my life back after one surgery). He was patient and took the time to answer my questions in my three visits with him and when I was in the hospital. I had total relief within 10 days of surgery, which I did not expect after 10 months of debilitating pain. My critique for the practice is improvement in preparing patients for the post-surgical experience. I found a "lumbar surgery guide" put out by John Hopkins after I was home and wondering what is and is not normal. It would have beeb nice to have the information provided when my surgery was planned (with tips like to buy a grabber, expect fatigue for more than a few weeks, etc. and a "call the doctor if . . . " list). Overall, I found the info I needed and could not be more grateful to Dr. Shannon.
