Excellent Doctor
Excellent. She took time to talk with me, answered my questions and provided a much-appreciated solution for my migraine headaches. I find her very compassionate and she was gentle with the exam.

Excellent OBGYN
Dr. Adkins has been my OBGYN for both of my pregnancies. She has wonderful bedside manners, and always makes me feel comfortable. She is educated and goes the extra mile by listening to her patients wishes and fulfilling their requests. I highly recommend, Dr. Adkins.

I've had awful interactions at Avina Women's Care, and Dr. Adkins is no exception. After leaving another doctor in the practice to find someone more compassionate and willing to listen, I met with Dr. Adkins. She was rude, dismissive, interrupted me as I was explaining my circumstances, was condescending when I did not want to accept the treatment she was giving me (I've been told to avoid hormonal birth control due to many family members having extensive history with cancer) and when I declined wanting traditional birth control, she was dismissive, told me to download an app, and that I really should change my mind. I do not recommend Dr. Adkins or anyone else in the Avina Women's Care group. They do NOT take the time to understand their patients' needs.

I have been to her office three times. The first two were for an annual female exam and diagnostic test. The third was to discuss fertility as I have PCOS. I set a boundary with her at the beginning that I didn't want to discuss weight loss, for my own mental health reasons due to a history of disordered eating that I am working on healing. She repeatedly brought up a nutrition center that could give me a diet plan for weight loss and couldn’t seem to understand why I wasn’t interested in that information. She dismissed many of my questions and just said to come back when I want to start trying to conceive and she’ll put me on medication. I was hoping for more of a conversation, but I felt belittled and spoken down to. I do not recommend her, especially if you are a fat person seeking compassionate care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Adkins for over 10years. She has been very supportive of my birth plans, answered all of my pregnancy questions. She has also been very comforting when I was having fertility issues and thought all of my miscarriages. I would recommend her to anyone that is looking for a new doctor.

Dr. Adkins couldn’t have been any kinder or more comforting. She spent at least 20 minutes with me and took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. I was dreading going to the doctor but she made it a wonderful experience.

I'm astonished by these crappy reviews! I've seen Dr. Adkins for 8+ years, and she is ALWAYS kind and compassionate. If she's even a few minutes behind schedule she seems almost embarrassed, and apologizes profusely. I've had some weird issues resulting in longer than planned appointment visits, and she never seemed rushed, and again would apologize to me for taking up so much of my time (to handle MY issue). She will explain, and re-explain if you ask, she definitely knows her subject matter, and has a better-than-average sense of humor (for a physician on the job). The front desk staff is a different story, they are always curt and indiscreet, but it's worth it to me to ignore them because Dr. Adkins is a very considerate and extremely competent physician.

Dr Adkins has to be one of the worst doctors I have seen in my entire life. I’ve never met someone that has made me feel so small and insignificant. If you are looking for a gynecologist and you are past childbearing years and dealing with menopause do not go to this doctor. She has no interest in helping older women. I trusted my intuition and found another Doctor who did diagnosed me correctly. I needed a hysterectomy. I had a fibroid that was extremely large. Dr Adkins told me I didn’t have a fibroid. It was the size of a grapefruit so I don’t know how she missed it even using an internal ultrasound. Her demeanor is cold and condescending. I would not recommend Dr Adkins for anyone but especially anything Gynecologic in nature.

Much like several other reviews, Dr. Adkins makes me feel dismissed. She is book smart but seems to have more calloused bedside manner. Even as medical professional myself, I found I needed to bring my husband with me to advocate for me when I saw her. I changed to a different Dr in the practice and couldn't be happier!

Dr. Adkins is very nice, however I've been a few times and always feel rushed and unimportant. In my last appointment she rattled off options too quickly for me to follow, cut me off when I was explaining myself, asked no/few questions about symptoms or my health and did not put me at ease even once. Dr. Adkins seems very smart, but personally I require a little more empathy and explaining.

Feel free to make an appointment if you like doctors who grind speculums around in your junk for 20 minutes. Sat in a hot, stuffy exam room for 40 minutes waiting to be seen. None of the nurses could find a blood pressure cuff that "pumped up". Worst gynecological experience I've ever had.

Dr. Adkins office staff is incompetent and unprofessional . I was told to pre-pay for a procedure before the Dr. even touches me. I was told a specific amount weeks prior, then a few days prior, it was $300 more, Almost $1,000. I asked how did they get this figure when all they verified with my insurance was if I had coverage, they have no idea what they'd be reimbursed for as no EOB would have been provided yet. When I contested this, they gave me the run around.

I was only 15 minutes late to my appointment that I made a month in advance and they sent me home because they could no longer fit me in. I even called the office when I was stuck in traffic - making sure it would be okay that I was 15 minutes late and I was told it would be no problem. Patients spend 15-45 minutes in the waiting room anyways?? Absolutely ridiculous. Take your business elsewhere if you're looking for a compassionate and understanding clinic.

I went to see Dr. Adkins because of severe pain over one ovary. She spent about 5 minutes with me, interrupted me mid-question with what she thought was a right a answer, and was completely condescending. Saw one of her colleagues a few weeks later when the pain persisted, turns out it was an ovarian cyst. Thanks for literally nothing Dr. Adkins. I won't be back.
