21 years ago today I was wheeled into surgery for double bypass and an aortic valve replacement. All went well until the staff took me off of bypass. Then all hell broke loose. I began to bleed and bleed. 79 units of blood later and after about 9 hours I was transferred to ICU. While in ICU A team of Doctors gave me a 2% chance of survival. 3 Days later I took a turn for the worst. I was rushed back into surgery where a Cardiac Tampinod was removed. Surgeon? Dr Zorrilla, Head OR Nurse Rene Edwards, ICU staff Ken Donochi, Gilbert ( never got last name) and all of the staff got me through this Nightmare at Methodist Hospital. With the compitance of the above mentioned, the love and toughness of my wife Linda, my stepson Kyle, my daughter Karen and all of my friends “ I’am Still Standing” A St. Jude Aortic Arch Valve combination was implanted. 662,256,000. Beats later, still going. Thank You to all that took this journey with me. Gary R Theis.

Dr. Zorrilla performed a heart transplant on me on 09-21-2016. I was blessed to have him as my surgeon, along with the rest of his team. He performed a complete transformation of my health, and as of today, I have not had any complications; not even a cold. I give thanks to him, his team, Methodist Hospital staff and the good Lord.

Dr. Zorrilla operated on me 8/13/2013 to remove. a non cancerous tumor called a myzoma which was located in the upper left chamber of my heart. At that time I was 54 years old. He made me feel comfortable from the moment I stepped into his office! There was a picture of a church steeple hanging on his wall and at that moment I knew God had sent me to the right place! I was back to work driving a bus in less than 8 weeks. Thank you Dr Zorrilla for everything!
