Degree with Temu Bedside manner
I went in for establish OB care as I see Dr Gray and his dad for GYNO care. During the appointment with Dr Mathison I was provided incomplete information regarding NT fluid measurement which was done at 9w6d. This is “common” following fertility treatments and not supposed to be measured until 12 weeks. She made assumptions based upon my physical appearance regarding my conditions and abilities. Even going as far to contradict herself in regards to my wheelchair usage and ambulatory activity. She told me to ask her and not research anything on Google because she has a medical degree not me and not Google and yet she won’t take the time to listen to your medical history that is well documented by other physicians. If you are not an easy open and shut case she will instantly refer you to an MFM as she will say you need a level of care they can’t give even though their site says they can handle high risk pregnancy.

Rude and Ignorant
Pediatrician did blood work that came back as possible PCOS. Took teenaged daughter to see Dr. Mathison-Ezieme who spent 5 minutes with her and said she definitely did NOT have PCOS although she listed all classic symptoms. When my daughter called to ask about her opinion of the test results, Dr. Mathison-Ezieme insisted she was completely correct in her diagnosis and was offended at being asked to review another doctor's test results. Asked what to do about the PCOS symptoms, she bluntly told a 16-year-old girl 'Lose weight' and hung up.I wrote the office because I had been a patient of her partners for over 24 years and told them of the situation. Never received a reply.

Rush job
I am amazed at the previous reviews referring to Dr Mathisons kind, caring and professional nature. As a patient, I have firsthand knowledge she is anything but. The staff and nurses are wonderful. The first visit was all of 10 min and that included a papsmear. Rushed questions, talking over me, seemed pretty irritated when I had a question. The second was absolutely no better. I left feeling less than, as if I had not been worthy of her time. Was it my ethnicity? Was it my weight or age? Ive read reviews in other places and truly wonder if there's a pattern here. Why are some treated so much better than other? I cannot fathom that a doctor does not understand the healing value of listening to their patients, developing a conversation of understanding and planning of the patient's care together. If your office is that busy, please stop accepting patients. Remember, everything comes back to you in time...

Ridiculous. I was referred to her by my cousin, whom she delivered both of her babies so I went into my appointment with high expectations. I felt brushed off and thrown to the side. I had experienced poor doctors with my first pregnancy, which ended in miscarriage so I assumed my second time around would be different. I was sadly mistaken. I didn't get to see her until my 8wk appointment, although I thought I would be seen earlier since my pregnancy before ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks. My appointments seemed rushed, she didn't ask any questions about my previous pregnancy and/or if I wanted to be closely monitored so that it wouldn't happen again. I ended up miscarrying for the second time and I reached out to her and her nurse specifically the night I was in the ER after my water broke at 18wks and 4 days and have yet, TO THIS DAY, received a response from her, not even a "sorry for your loss." I do not recommend anyone going to her if you have had a recent miscarriage.

I usually see Dr Laureta, whom I adore, but she was off on the day I was supposed to have my IUD placed. I had never met her before, but she was kind and thoughtful, explaining everything she was doing, because she knew I was anxious due to never having given birth nor previously had an IUD. I knew going in that my body might not cooperate, due to having learned following an earlier surgery for fibroids, my doctor was not able to successfully dilate my cervix. I was expecting quite a bit of pain, but hoping for the best. She clearly is experienced, as I did not feel any discomfort from the tenaculum and only minor discomfort from the sounding. Alas, for the insertion of the IUD itself, once again, my body rebelled. She was supportive and patient throughout the procedure, made me feel supported, empowered, and provided conscientious, caring treatment. I would recommend her and this practice to my friends and family members without hesitation. Thank you, Dr. Mathison!

My daughter's son was delivered by Dr. Mathison. The experience was a nightmare. Dr. Mathison failed to listen to my daughter concerns, refused to do a C-section which her original OB recommended due to prior trauma, she did a vac extraction and caused more trauma and hemorrhaging, she was yelled at, put down, told she didn't want the baby because she wasn't trying hard enough and so many other things. My daughter told her to leave and Dr. Matthison got insulted and went on and on about how she could not treat her that way. Please, do no pick her as your OB. I don't want you to experience the life long issues my daughter is going to have.

I respect Dr.Mathison's education and all that it took for her to obtain her credentials. That being said, she displayed poor active listening skills and a lack of empathy and an inability to listen to understand me as a patient and individual. In the past she has prescribed birth control without me requesting it and without even caring about how I felt about taking it.

This was my first pregnancy and I wanted a doctor that would consider all my concerns & wishes. Dr. Mathison-Ezieme made my first pregnancy one to remember. She set down with my significant other & I to have a formal conversation before providing services. Each visit was short, informative & genuine. Not only did she listen to my concerns, she encouraged my significant other to voice his concerns as well. Even after my delivery, she focus on helping me w/thorough info.

I am writing as husband of one of Dr. Mathison's patients. Her experience and expertise assisted us tremondously in the safe delivery of our baby girl at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Of all of the doctors that I've witnessed in the delivery of my three daughters' over the years, she is the one I will remember the most because of her ability to foster confidence and security during my wife's labor process. I am thankful and sincerely grateful for her extraordinary professionalism.
