HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
She didn't listen to anything I said. I told her I've had shingles multiple times (EACH TIME I SAW A DR) and she said it was obviously misdiagnosed bc it's 'unusual' for someone my age to have shingles that many times. She also said I cannot possibly have lyme bc there is no lyme in Tx. YES THERE IS!!!!! and.....I've been outside of TX several times! I guess it's just normal to have half.your face drooping, nothing g is wrong according her her. AWFUL DR! Completely ignored and talked down to.

The best doctor in the world!
Dr. Lisa Ellis at Austin Infectious Disease Consultants has got to be one of the nicest doctor I have ever known! Her office is clean, friendly and I never wait longer than 5 minutes. She always greets me with a handshake and a smile. She always remembers what’s happening in my life like my wedding or my upcoming honeymoon. She explains things simply and lets me ask 10,000 questions because I am an anxious person. She doesn’t appear to be in a rush and is very present during the appointment! I wish she could be my doctor for everything! I would encourage my family or friends to have her as their doctor!

could be worse
She like many other doctors lives in her own world and doesn't listen. Not sure what her main malfunction is but it's a horrible experience and leaves me very depressed after seeing her.

Condescending and dismisses credible science
I was referred to Dr. Ellis, unfortunately, and instead of being helpful, she said EBV does not reactivate and is not well-studied because scientists didn't think there was much to learn. A couple of months later and major publications are linking EBV reactivation to long COVID and MS. Well, Dr. Ellis, time to actually read the science you claim to know so much about.

This doctor’s office charges you $100 “no show” fee for cancelling within 48 hours of your appt. I’m 35 weeks pregnant and unable to make it. Then when you try and call to reschedule, to avoid the fee, they let your call go to voicemail. It took nearly a week to even get this appt “approved” by the doctor; then an entirely new week to get scheduled in because the doctor only works a few days a week. So two weeks later, I get a $100 bill and absolutely nothing to show for it. I wouldn’t pay this office your money or give them your business.

Initially my profile was transferred to her. I didn't feel as though she read the history of my condition prior to coming in and exclaiming everything looked great. Ever since the beginning of my conditions, I have cataloged every bloodwork and you could see the rise and drops of several key bodily requirements. The fact that she always comes in with a smile and just claims everything is great without listening to my issues and actually trying to help correct the problem. She just came across as dismissive. I was disappointed.

Dr. Ellis spent a LOT of time with me asking questions, suggesting possibilities, and ultimately doing relevant lab work. I highly recommend Dr. Ellis!

I have only been to Dr. Ellis once so far, but I am extremely pleased with her care. Kind, knowledgeable, and a good listener, she reassured me after a difficult experience with another doctor. I like knowing that I am more than just numbers on a lab printout, and I look forward to working with her for a long time.

Was unable to diagnose syphallis (tertiary) because she does not routinely test for it per CDC guidelines for men with HIV. Suffered loss of eysight and hearing as a result. Retina specialist was able to correctly diagnose the issue. She does not want to deal with any complications. Everything is always "fine" no matter what your lab results show.

Dr. Ellis is kind, caring and knowledgeable. She always takes the time to sit with me and discuss not only my test results and the course of treatment I'm on, but also what is going on with my life, work and any other factors that might be affecting the treatment of my disease. She and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend her to anyone that has need of an infectious disease doctor.

Dr. Ellis is a mother, friend, ever smiling, she will always welcome you as a family member more than just a patient and she tries to understand you needs, asks any changes that have happened since the last visit. She always makes sure you leave smiling after a visit with her. Very well informed and open to discussing anything about your progress with you. Appointments with her are easy, when your results arrive she personally calls to let you know of the latest updates. God Bless you Dr. Ellis

Dr. Ellis is the most incredible, caring, educated and devoted doctor that I have ever encountered and that I believe saved my life. And not just with medicine but her overall caring, listening, and love in her patients. When she walks through the door with her smile, you have a feeling of happiness (at least I do). I do believe in my heart Jesus lead me to her. I have such a great fondness for her and have the joy of knowing she will always be there for me.The staff is wonderful & like family.

While she may be good at general issues or ones with specific treatment plans, when it comes to anything abnormal or complicated she will quickly shut the door and act like there's nothing for her to do. Even though she runs labs and notes low levels in the immune system, she might refuse to do anything about it or consult with other physicians.
