Dr. Lisa Sonnenblick, MD

I came to the KP ED with abdominal pain/fever on a busy, chaotic night with over 200 people in the waiting room. After a few hours I made it to a hallway chair in the ED, which is where I first met Dr Sonnenblick. Despite all the noise around us, her “chairside” manner was kind and confident. She listened, probed, and quickly devised a plan of action. When the diagnostic tests came back to reveal an acute gallbladder issue, she proactively engaged the surgeon and then met with me to explain the next steps. 2 hours later, around midnight, she found I was still sitting in the hallway. She immediately recognized me, apologized and said she was working on getting me a bed. A few minutes later she personally escorted me to my hallway bed and handed me off to the nurse. A few hours later I had a gangrenous gallbladder removed. I will forever be grateful to Dr Sonnenblick whose clinical skills resulted in the care I needed and whose genuine kindness made a difficult night so much better.
