Pretty ticked off!!
He scheduled my 80 year old father for an early morning surgery and decided to take the morning off. He told the nursing staff that there would be a delay that morning. He was not in his office nor on the hospital campus. He bothered himself to show up at 9:30 and unapologetically tell us that the surgery would be pushed to noon. After surgery, while in the hospital, dad started to have blood in his urine. The nurse asked the doctor twice to order a urinalysis, and he refused to do so. He did not round at all while dad was on the floor for 24 hours. We will wait to see how this bloody urine turns out. I would look elsewhere for care. Dr. Eguia simply did the job he was hired to do. He had no interest in patient care whatsoever. Sad.

Do not recommend - Inefficient Office Staff
Poor communication between office staff , nurse ( Mona) and presumably Dr. E. I wonder if he is aware of his poorly run office and that his patients medications are not being refilled in a timely matter. Multiple calls over a 2 week period to try to resolve this issue . 2 weeks later still without the needed anti arrhythmic medication . And last response from office staff is “I have told Mona several times and she will do it when she is ready “ I am an RN for over 30 years . I have lived and worked all over the US and the world and have never experienced such incompetence and blatant disregard for patient rights.

I was a recent Pacemaker patient of Dr. Eguia's. On the day of my Pacemaker implant surgery at DHR, he was approximately 5 hours late for my surgery resulting in me being confined to a pre-op bed for about 6 hours (1 hour for pre-op procedures performed by staff and about 5 hours laying helpless waiting for Dr. Eguia with needles & tubes already inserted in my arms). He never apologized for being hours late. While still at DHR I chose to decline the administration of a drug Dr. Aguia had prescribed that was described in hospital literature as very dangerous. Weeks later a different heart specialist confirmed that dangerous drug wasn't necessary in my case, just as I had suspected. I got the impression Dr. Aguia was a "one drug fits all" doctor with very little regard for the possibility that serious adverse drug reactions to patients like myself could result. However, the actual Pacemaker implant surgery was successful.

He is a great doctor that seems to be genuinely concerned about my health. He did heart surgery on me, took his time. More thorough than previous Houston surgery that failed. I am back in the gym now.

He saved my life and I adore him. I had way too many PVC's (50+) when we first met. Last week I had 3 very minimal ones in 6 months! He's implanted 4 defibrillators in me and each one was better for me than the one before. I think the world of him because he's also a dog lover!

This Doctor has no regard for his patients waiting, waiting, waiting to have him show up in the procedure room. It is a behavior that the Medical Centers need to address with him - his disregard for his patients time, comfort, and the punishment he deals out with his tardy appearance. I and others have been required to get to the Hospital at 0615 for prep and in my case, he finally appeared in the procedure room for my heart procedure at 11:15, I had been strapped down for 45 minutes.

My apt was yesterday, 02/12/2016 @ 2:00 pm. I was and am still feeling very lightheaded, dizzy, shortness of breath, etc., my husband had to take time off work to drive me to dr's appointment as unable to drive. Due to my feeling so ill was late to my appointment by 24 minutes. I got to the office I checked in and was called by front personnel to advise Dr. Eguia's nurse (Mona) had told them to tell me the dr would not see me as I was late and had to reschedule apt. Very unethical practice.

Outstanding Dr, while it takes a while to see Dr Eguia on appt. day, he takes time to talk with his patients so he is worth waiting for, do take reading material. I have never felt rushed once you met with him, he is patience with his patients - you actually see him every time not someone else in the office. Very good surgeon, resolved my issue; I've heard that he is the doctor that other doctors send their own family members to, overall a skilled specialist. He regularly keep late hours.
