Biography: Jonathan N. Ginns, MD Dr. Ginns was born in Australia and earned his medical degree from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. He underwent his internship and residency training at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and following this adult cardiology and adult congenital heart disease fellowships at the Prince Charles Hospital also in Brisbane. Subsequently, he came to the United States to pursue an interventional cardiology fellowship at Bridgeport Hospital, Yale, New Haven Health and then adult congenital heart disease fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.Prior to joining Austin Heart, from 2017-2020 Dr. Ginns served as Associate Director of Adult Congenital Heart Diseases and Director of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. Before joining Weill Cornell, Dr. Ginns was a full-time faculty member at Columbia University Medical Center specializing in adult congenital heart disease and was Director of their Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program.Through the years, Dr. Ginns' research findings have been published in numerous, prestigious peer-reviewed journals such as Circulation, The Journal of American College of Cardiology, International Journal of cardiology and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a member of the Adult Congenital Heart Association where he serves on the medical advisory Board, the International Society of Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. He holds board certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. Dr Ginns special interests include adult congenital heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, cardiogenetics, pregnancy and heart disease and advanced cardiac imaging including echo, cardiac CT and MRI.Dr Ginns is excited to work for the Austin community and deliver excellent care to his patients. Dr. Schwade attended Rice University in Houston, Texas receiving his undergraduate degree in 1962. Upon graduation from the UT Southwestern Medical School with his medical degree in 1966, Dr. Schwade went on to complete his medical residency (1970-1972) and his fellowship (1972-1974) at Dallas Veterans Administration Hospital. His Cardiovascular Research fellowship was completed at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1974. Dr. Schwade is a leader in the cardiovascular field and attended numerous cardiology programs and scientific sessions through the American College of Cardiology and other organizations. He has also been published in numerous medical journals and publications throughout his career. Dr. Schwade served his country in the U.S. Army Medical Corp in the 1960's as a Major and Battalion Surgeon in Germany. He is married and has three children.
