I had the unfortunate experience of having an appointment with Dr. Abboud. She was taking care of patients for her colleague who was out on leave. She continually talked over me and disrespected me during the whole visit by not listening to my concerns. She had her own agenda and idea of how my health issues should be dealt with. She didn't look at my file prior to my visit and gain any knowledge of who I am or my history. I've had thyroid and bone density issues for 30 years and she didn't care what I had to say. She was rushing me, impatient and rude. She based her ideas on fear and not respect for the patient or by explaining to the patient why she thought what she did. This was a horrible experience. I would never recommend her.

Not Board Certified As She Advertises
Dr. Abboud is falsely claiming that she is “Triple Board Certified.” Not true. She is Board Certified ONLY in the large general speciality in “Internal Medicine” and a subspecialty in “Endocrinology, Diabetes Metabolism.” THERE IS NO CURRENT BOARD SPECIALTY OF “OBESITY MEDICINE.”

keep looking for specialist
unfortunately, I also had what wasn't the type of care i expect, especially being a nurse for many years . the staff was as rude as can be. I am assertive so I just sat and watched treatment of others in office waiting for Dr. the Dr. gave me one option for hyperparathyroidism.---- surgery and the traditional method. she didn't listen to my question re surgery with guided imaging . she also verbalized not liking Christ hospital but when she found out my insurance was for Christ only, she tried to cover her previous statement VERY UNPROFESSIONAL IN ALL ASPECTS Funny how my new dr gave me options with thorough explanations. In ad after not scheduling a return visit, I got a letter in the mail several months later 'firing me' as her patient -- really if I didn't make a follow up one would normally call to remind or ask if follow up is intended before sending that letter which could upset many patients if they didnt know how to get other resources

She does not give explanations as to why she is starting patient on medication. Did not explain what hypothyroidism is. She was rushed, inpatient and rude.

Maribeth pt of Dr abboud for couple months
I was a patient of Dr Abboud’s for a couple of months. Was seeing her for Hashimotos and Diabetes. Would not recommend her at all. She dismissed me as a patient because I needed to reschedule my appt and gave 4 days notice. I work in the health field and am very busy at my office so needed to change my appt and I rescheduled it for a week that I took off so I could see her. An office girl Emily called me to let me know she was dismissing me as a patient because I cancelled my appt. Dr abboud had just changed my medications and started me on new meds and because I had to reschedule my appt she dismissed me!! I called and spoke with Emily and asked if the dr could please call me because I wanted to speak to her and of course she never returned my call. I see this as poor and very unprofessional on her part and would not recommend her as a Dr! She opened up a spa like office and it seems like this is her new business instead of treating and caring for her patients!

I went online to find an endocrinologist in the area that I live in. After reading about Dr Abboud I decided to make an appointment. I have been going to her for many years now if it wasn’t for Dr. Abboud I never would’ve gotten my A1c number back to the normal range. I have lost 30 pounds and have been able to keep it off for two years. Dr Abboud is a very kind, patient. She answers any questions that I have. I never feel rushed. Her staff is very polite and friendly.

My experience with everyone in that office was about the worst I have ever had. I only had 1 appointment and I will never, ever, ever go back. I was Not one person in that office was pleasant at all. Dr Abboud was horrible to me. She was rude, impatient and had no interest in hearing what I had to say. I had recently been diagnosed as a diabetic so I was still learning about my disease and needed questions answered... she pretty much made me feel stupid for not knowing and having to ask. I walked out of there so upset and crying. There are some people who should not be Doctors.... and she is one of them. I noticed that she only got 3 stars for an overall review.... I feel like she doesn't even deserve that. I would never refer her to anyone....

I thought Dr.abboud was knowledgeable about endocronology but her office staff is incompetent. I felt as if they kept pushing me to do some $50weight loss scan that was not covered by insurance. Then I had my primary doctors office send my referral over and they said they never received it. I went to the appt after calling that morning to make sure they had my referral. I get there and they sent me away saying they never got there. After I left they call me and tell me to come back. I told them I would reschedule. After they called me 2 times to reschedule, I told them I would when my schedule permitted. Then I received a letter that said I was no longer permitted to be seen by Dr. Abboud. When I called to discuss no one returned my call. Crazy.

Dr. Abboud's staff is one of the worst medical office staff I have ever met in my life. From top to bottom, if I could the office staff negative stars, I would. Dr. Abboud; however, is a great doctor and she genuinely cared about my concerns. When I went to see her, she was friendly and listened to me about the problems I had with my hypothyroid/hashimotos. The staff, on the other hand, was terrible. The office manager saw me as a dollar sign and that's all. She was incredibly rude to me on the phone and told me I was "blacklisted" (her words) from seeing Dr. Abboud because I was out of the country and could not make it to the appointment I had scheduled (which I had called in advance and told them about). As a doctor, Dr. Abbout I would recommend but there are far better offices that you can go to that will treat you far better than her office treated me. I would avoid and go elsewhere.

I have left my details for an appointment as new patient. I received a call on last Thursday and requested me to hold the line to get my appointment but they disconnected the phone and never called. We just moved from Houston and the doctors and staff were very awesome & professional and take care of patients. But here we have not seen that much concern. I am 34 week pregnant and need to an appointment as I have hypothyroidism but they are least bothered.

I would not recommend her. She seems to be knowledgeable but has very poor people skills. A situation happened where her staff did not correctly relay a question from me to her and in turn the doctor called me and was very short tempered. I tried to explain what my question was but she would not listen to me. After that incident I chose to stop seeing her and when I called to cancel my appointment 2 weeks before the date I was told the appointment had already been cancelled.

As soon as I met Dr. Abboud, I knew I'd found the right Dr. When you've been to as many Drs as I have, you sense immediately if they know their job. She's extremely sharp, and has a very pleasant personality, which is like icing on the cake. A lot of Drs who are very smart, sometimes forget that the patient in front of them is a person with feelings, and concerns. Dr. Abboud was very pleasant, and as soon as she came in my room, I relaxed, because I knew I was in the hands of a very good Doctor.

Dr. Abboud was an excellent choice for an endocrinologist in Oak Lawn. Have had trouble getting control of my diabetes for a long time and I feel like she helped educate me better than any of my previous doctors. She was attentive, compassionate, and put together an achievable plan for me. Would recommend her to anyone struggling with their diabetes.
