Right Hand Thumb Joint Arthritis Surgery
Susan A.I have lived with arthritis pain in my right thumb joint for many years, with multiple painful cortisone injections. I contacted, Dr Mark Fischer (Hand Specialist) at TCO. Dr Fischer was very thorough on my options to get pain relief. Without question we (husband & I) liked his solution to address my pain. He took the time to explain the procedure and all that it would entail from pre surgery, post surgery to recovery. Immediately, Dr. Fisher made me feel confidante, this was the right choice to eliminate my thumb pain.Day of surgery the staff, from checking-in to sending me home were warm, professional and informative. No question was unanswered. Dr. Fisher's surgery team (pre surgery) all came in and introduced themselves and explained their role. Once sent home, I took only 1 prescribed pain pill. When the cast came off, I opted to take advantage of physical therapy, 2 visits and I am back feeling completely pain free with total mobility. Thank you, TCO, Dr Fisher

I had to wait for over an hour with this doctor. Then he told me that he doesn't feel comfortable doing surgery on me if I don't take the cortisone shot. I told him, I don't want too. He basically told me that if the cortisone does not work then there is no point of surgery! He told me that the injection is not temporary. I felt like he was about to fall asleep while seeing me. He said things that didn't even make sense at all. I personally will not feel comfortable letting him do my surgery even if he was willing. I felt like I wasted my time. I left upset and frustrated. How I took what he said was, either the cortisone shot or no surgery. I don't recommend this provider to anyone.

I’ve been following with Dr. Fischer for 5 years now. He released both of my carpal tunnel nerves and did a partial wrist fusion in 2020 after my arthritis destroyed my wrist joint. Since then, my wrist has felt pretty good until the last two weeks. My arthritis has now destroyed the joints above the fusion site so I need a full fusion now. I knew this would happen eventually, but I had hoped for a little more time. Dr. Fischer is the best. He’s methodical, funny and caring and works with the patient to make the best plan for them!

Complex elbow fractures 15 months ago, 2 surgeries and one more coming for triceps repair. Dr Fischer talked through risks forthrightly and listened to my need to get more function in elbow/arm for the long haul. He is careful.clear and willing to proceed in a timely manner once the decision was made to get it done. Set up surgical date quickly, with scheduled f/u appts and therapy at my selected location with selected mgr/therapist Rochelle Lindow. Great team! Collaborative partnership between team members!

Very nice. Was very gentle as I am not good with pain. He reviewed what I needed to do to get my dislocated finger back to functioning. He brought in a physical therapist and she made me a couple splints depending on what activities I am doing. All staff very nice and helpful.

Dr Fischer and TCO therapist Rochelle Lindow are top notch people. I have worked with both of them for over twenty five years. Unplanned, complicated injuries and surgeries have been the result. As a fifty year diabetic, hand surgery, elbow surgeries, ulnar surgeries have occurred and everything with me is complicated. Dr Fischer has always been honest with the complexity, complications, and has provided me with best results! Rochelle is the person who has worked with multiple therapeutic modalities to assist with optimal results every time.

My daughter fractured her wrist and required surgery to pin it properly into position as casting alone wasn't holding it the correct position. Our experience with Dr. Fischer and his staff has been very positive so far. He is board-certified, which is very important. He focuses on wrist/hand and works with pediatric patients. He was caring and took his time in explaining what needed to be done. Everyone from the check-in rep to the nursing staff, to the anesthesiologist were very kind.

I came to Dr Fisher for simple "trigger release" in right thumb (release a sticky tendon/ popping joint). 2 wks later I returned & explained it was worse than before, still painful, now won't close completely & can't grip anything. The female assistant was abusive and rude, pulling infected and painful stitches, & told me to give it 3 weeks. 3 months later I requested appt with the doctor, was met instead by the same female assistant, who said there's nothing they can do, but seek phys therapy

My finger is so messed up. Broke my pinky and wrecked the joint, so it was stuck straight. Had surgery and now I can’t straighten it. It’s completely bent. Therapy was doing little to straighten it. Now the hardware is working its way out and scraping me from inside! Its only been 3 months! All he said was that he could try to fix it and would need to perform another surgery. I said no thanks. I knew something wasn’t right directly after my surgery.
