Dr Leyba is very caring. He took care of me with my lupus. He said that I was so worse than he ever seen and for me not to worry that he would take care of me. I’ve been going to Dr Leyba for over 20 years and my lupus is in remission And I still see him. He does have a turnaround with his office staff, but they have always been friendly towards me. I would recommend Dr Leyba with no questions asked.

May need to get a 2nd opinion
I started having widespread joint pain and was desperate for answers. Prior to my visit with him, I was offered a blanket diagnosis of Fibromyalgia (which is a very real illness). He was very dismissive of my symptoms and bruising around my joints. At the end of the appointment, he told me that I should probably get better help at a therapist or psychiatrist.Low and behold, 3 years later I was diagnosed with Lupus and have been on medications that have helped since.

Really liked him
I read reviews about Dr Leyba and was hesitant to see him however the other rheumatologist was booking into June 2025 so I decided to proceed with Dr. Leyba. I for an appointment within 3 weeks and was very impressed with Dr Leyba. He was straightforward, easy to understand and was very kind. After a thorough exam, he explained next steps and scheduled appointment in 2 weeks.

I went to see Dr. Leyba for the pain in my hands and arms. I was referred to him by my doctor. Dr. Leyba also referred me out to another physician for some test. Dr. Leyba diagnosed me with Carpal Tunel in both hands and wrist. So I called his office to get a letter of restrictions for my job, my supervisor is trying to accommodate me but without the restrictions she can only do so much, so she advised me to the letter from my doctor. The receptionist who took my call was really really rude to me, and she said that Dr. Leyba will not give me a letter for job even though he is the one who diagnosed me. The receptionist said that I have to go see another doctor, an surgeon, in order to get a letter for my job. I will not be going back to Leyba, I canceled all my future appointments with him. It is absurd to me that he will not help his patient,

Absolutely Not
Staff is uncooperative, unfriendly and unsupportive of Dr. Leyba. They seem to go out of their way to be rude.. to everyone! They are the least helpful of any physician's staff I have every encountered. He would do well to hire new staff. Wait time is long at times. Sometimes, if not busy, Dr. Leyba can be thorough and helpful. On routine visits, he passes off chronic problems. He told me I did not need knee replacement. After once such visit I took it upon myself to see an orthopedic surgeon for my knees and have had two knee replacements in the past year. I also checked with a neurologist and discovered Spinal Stenosis both lumbar and cervical. In both cases, Rheumatoid Arthritis was involved resulting in nerve damage to both the elbow and hand. I believe Dr. Leyba should have been proactive in treating these problems or sending me to specialists for evaluations.

Office staff not helpful at all. I asked staff to send lab requisition to Quest, and staff asked me to get the fax number. I provided the fax number, and the next day I was at Quest at 7:30 but they didn't have the requisition, so they turned me away. Dr. does not have enough staff and the staff has an attitude.

Hands off, won't listen and very conservative in his treatment of R.A. meaning won't change treatment approach when indicated he should. Receptionists are UNBearable!
