Broke my L1 slipping on some ice last December, and the Altru Emergency Room scheduled a followup with Dr Babu to monitor healing.Dr. Babu has a great exam room manner, friendly staff, answered all my question, and really seemed to know her stuff; however, even though everything in her office was Altru branded, and appointment was made through Altru and inside an Altru building, found out when I got the bill she is not affiliated with Altru, but rather 'Acute Care Surgery of South Dakota PC' and was not in-network for my insurance, so I ended up with out of network rates. Since even the person making the appointment identified themselves as Altru, I assumed the visit would be in-network. Had I known there would be no insurance coverage, I would have ask for a referral at Sanford from my primary care physician (who practices at Sanford)

On 07/04/2022 y had emergency craniotomy done by Dr Babu, due to a brain abscess secondary to chronic sinusitis, the survival percentage gor this complication is 10%, She did my surgery treated me with wide spectrum IV antibiotics, and here I am , I survived, I have no major residuals, But I has fired from her due a misunderstanding with her RN who was very disrespectful and unprofessional to me, when I went to see Dr Babu for a follow up post surgery, I got upset, I was crying and Dr Babu did not listen me, the reason I am writing this review, is to let her know I am doing good and my family and I are so great full to her for saving my life. Dr Babu performed multiple low back laminectomies on me a year ago today and after having 50 years of pain, I am now doing extremely well. She is very well qualified to diagnose and treat spinal cord degeneration. Very fortunate to locate her in Florida.

After several more conservative treatment plans were not effective, I consulted with Dr. Babu. Eventually it was decided that I would undergo two spinal surgeries, one on the neck and one on the lower back. These operations relieved a great deal of my pain and improved the quality of my life. I was able to return to a more normal life filled with social activities and not one filled with a regime of endless pain treatment appointments. Dr. Babu’s surgical skills are exceptional and her staff made the lead up to the surgeries run smoothly. In addition, on several occasions the aftercare assistance offered helped me find ways to treat my pain during the long healing process. The Physician Assistants in particular were exceptional. The doctor is now located in Florida- she is very compassionate, a good listener and appears very competent. I have a lot of trust in Dr. Babu and her staff.
