When cancer was detected during my 2019 annual mammogram, my Gyn sent me to Dr Baker. I will forever be grateful for this referral. Dr Baker reassured both my husband and me that my DCIS was operable and set about explaining - in terms we could understand - exactly what we were dealing with, how she would address it and what to expect going forward. She is a warm and compassionate doctor. We both knew we were in the best hands with Dr Baker.

Dr. Baker manages to balance a straightforward presentation of your cancer diagnosis with a warm and reassuring manner. She was highly recommended to me by my OB/GYN and several friends in the medical field, and they were not wrong--I have been impressed with her! The fact that she's widely known as the best surgical oncologist for breast cancer in Charleston does lead to longer wait times in the office, but she also is willing to spend as much time explaining your diagnosis and treatment plan as you need--I've never felt like she was in a rush to be finished with me. She also always calls right after test results are in (she called me at 6PM on a Saturday once with good news from an MRI), because she clearly cares about her patients and knows how nerve-wracking it can be to await those results.

Dr. Baker is an incredible surgeon, thorough & compassionate. Her trained fingers found a cancer that was as small as a grain of Kosher salt. Found early, I have an excellent prognosis. Dr. Baker presented the pathology findings and treatment plan in an organized and easily understood manner. She took time for me to absorb the information, answer my questions, and express my feelings. I have had a total of 5 appointments. She consistently provides quality care, compassion, and hope.

“Great Surgeon, the care I received was five stars before and after surgery! Results of the lumpectomy were better than I expected! My journey started Dec 5, 2018. Dr Baker performed lumpectomy January 11, 2019 and 5 lymphnode removals, she was very precise during surgery to remove only what was cancerous. 2nd surgery on Feb 1 to remove tiny bit of skin, she did an amazing job, recovery went well! I'm healed. Life is Good! Thank you Dr Megan Baker & Staff!"

I am grateful that she took my call and was able to schedule me an appointment with Dr. Baker's P.A., Sarah. She went out of her way to assist me to get the best possible day.
