I highly recommend Dr. Fu and his team at Hospital for Special Surgery for shoulder problems. Dr. Fu is an extremely knowledgeable, competent and caring shoulder specialist and highly skilled surgeon who took the time to answer all my questions regarding my rotator cuff tear. I had a fantastic outcome with my rotator cuff repair surgery and recovery. Dr. Fu's team at HSS are also very professional, responsive, helpful and courteous. I would give Dr. Fu and his team more than 5 stars if possible!

The efficiency, the care of the staff, even the security guard made me feel taken care of.

Dr. Fu is very patient. He explains everything to you. He sends you for needed test to assess your condition and to determine if surgery is needed. I would use his services again and recommend him to others.

Dr Fu provided me with all the information and options about my injury. The day of the surgery, Dr. Fu made me feel confident with his calm presence. After having the same surgery 12 years before with a different doctor and expected extreme pain and discomfort for more than a week or two. I was pleasantly surprised that I barely experienced any pain with minimal discomfort. I am glad that I put my trust in Dr. Fu.

I came to Dr. Fu upon the recommendation of my former surgeon who does not take Medicare. I suffered from multiple issues in my shoulder, including a massive tear in my rotator cuff, a displaced biceps tendon, arthritis, and bone spurs. In order to avoid surgery, Dr. Fu recommended PT for an extended period. Once it became clear that this path was not going to work, we decided on surgery with no guarantee for success. Dr. Fu patiently walked me through the surgical options and the long steps to recovery. I am happy to report the surgery was successful, and I have regained full use and mobility in my shoulder. It was a long recovery, but with such a unsure prognosis for health, I am so grateful for Dr. Fu’s expertise, skill, and understanding. He saw me multiple times post-surgery and checked up on my progress. I’ve had too many procedures done on me in my life, but can say that Dr. Fu was one of the best doctors I’ve had.

I was seen on time, Dr. Fu was personable and thorough, I felt well tended.

Michael Fu blatantly lied about my condition despite radiographic evidence and other orthopedic surgeons’ opinions. He is also cruel and lacks compassion. I had complained about a bungled surgery by HSS and this is how HSS retaliates against an honest patient.

Dr. Michael Fu is very approachable and listens to your needs. He carefully and correctly diagnosed me at the first appointment. I had gone to two other doctors who could not give me a clear diagnosis. You will get experienced staff and doctors who are compassionate and are leaders in their field. They stand out because the team of Physician Assisstants, office staff and Physical Therapists all work together to achieve quality outcomes for you. I highly recommend Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) for all your orthopedic needs.

Easiest reverse shoulder replacement ever! Was completely off pain meds (including over-the-counter) after day 6 post-op. Great range of motion after 2 months. Now 3 months out, my shoulder feels better and more 'normal' than my biological one. I don't know why I delayed having this surgery. I whole-heartily recommend Dr. Fu.

I had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Fu for a full tear of my rotator cuff and torn biceps tendon in my left shoulder. Dr. Fu and his team demonstrated exceptional professionalism, expertise, and care. Jillian Clyburn, the PA was particularly outstanding. The surgery was a complete success. Dr. Fu's skillful approach and attention to detail were evident throughout the entire process. He always took the time to explain the procedure, answer all my questions, and provide reassurance, which made me feel confident and comfortable. Post-surgery, as many are aware can be difficult, my recovery though has been terrific. I have regained full function and strength in my shoulder. I am sleeping comfortably, playing basketball, golf and doing push-ups!! I went to Dr. Fu for a consultation, because I wanted to do my shoulder surgery at HSS. I was asking questions, and Dr. Fu simply stated, that it didn't seem I was ready for surgery, and said so twice in our interview. My shoulder was so painful I could barely stand it, I wanted reassurance and information, but that was not what Dr. Fu wanted to provide. I have no faith in Dr. Fu, and he seemed to have no interest in me. I am going elsewhere for my surgery. I would not recommend Dr. Fu.

This was my third opinion to determine if shoulder surgery was necessary. All three orthopedic surgeons and two recommended surgery prior to coming to Dr. Fu. They all looked at the same MRI/MRA. HSS was the only one that suggested surgery was not necessary at this stage and to continue with PT work and a Frozen shoulder. I can not thank them enough for listening to my concerns, properly evaluating and taking proper steps before undergoing a major surgery that was not needed at this time. They came highly recommended by the majority of my friends and family. I can not be happier with my experience!

Dr. Fu dismissed my pain and said I don't need surgery even though I have a shoulder labrum tear and MRI proof. He told me the pain in my shoulder was just because I was 'deconditioned' and then laughed afterwards. He would cut me off before I could even finish speaking. He did not care to listen to what I had to say. I would not recommend him for anyone.
