Dr Merz and his team work seamlessly providing exceptional customer care. I went in for my pre-surgery appointment with lots of questions. He explained the surgery, options, risks, recovery, etc. At the end of that appointment I pulled out my list of questions and he'd answered all without having to be asked. I posed follow-up questions on the patient portal that were all answered promptly. My surgery (total knee replacement) was 5 days ago. The surgery was performed at the NC Specialty Hospital and the service provided by all hospital staff was simply AAA. Everyone seems to love their jobs and have a genuine interest in making sure your time there goes well. My recovery is going very well, better than expected. I highly recommend Dr Merz, the EmergeOrtho staff and the NCSH.

I had Dr. Merz replace my right hip in 2020 and was very pleased with the outcome, so I chose him again for my left hip replacement on Dec 31, 2024. So far everything is going well from this latest surgery. I have been happy with all of my experiences with Dr. Merz. He is always willing to listen, answers questions thoroughly, and seems extremely competent. I also recommend NC Specialty Hospital, where both my procedures were done. It is an excellent small hospital with knowledgeable and caring staff.

Dr Merz is very thorough making sure you know what the steps are and what you can expect. He discusses all of the technology available and helps you make an informed decision. He is very precise giving you the best outcome and recovery from your surgery. His whole staff is there to support you answering your questions and making sure you are well taken care of.

Dr. Merz did a hamstring repair on my right leg. He told me in advance that the post op recovery would be challenging and really prepared me for the process. I'm 3 months post op now and doing great. I can't thank Dr. Merz and his team enough. They are all fantastic!

Dr. Metz was very clear in explaining the cat scan and X-raysof the fracture which could not be repaired by operation—had to healnaturally. He took time to answer all our questions.

Dr.Merz did my right total knee replacement in 2021. I saw him on September 20, 2024 for an evaluation of my left knee. Dr. Merz remembered me from almost 4 years ago and could not have been more personable. He took a lot of time with me and explained the condition of my left knee in terms I could understand . I know when I have my left knee replacement, Dr. Merz will be my surgeon!! He is wonderful!!

He was very patient, didnt rush us & took time to review my history & gave me a few physical tests for movements to understand the issues before coming to any conclusions. He was the break I had been looking for. He gave me a hope by proposing a least invasive treatment option with better chances of recovery which no other Dr had done. For me hes an Angel. Id highly recommend him to anyone based on his expertise , attention to minutest details (he records & takes notes during exams) so as not to miss anything & kind demeanor. Hes a wonderful Dr.

All staff were very pleasant. The wait was reasonable. Dr Merz is very focused, I felt that he was listening and hearing me with no rushing. This was my first visit. I think I was lucky to have been referred to a doctor I can stick with for whatever happens with my knee.

I made an appointment for a second opinion for hip pain. When his nurse took us to the exam room, she told us she already had our records from the other institution. I was amazed by her thoughtfulness. She said she likes to look at Dr Merz's future appointments and secure records from other institutions before patient appointments.When Dr. Merz came into the exam room, he was familiar with all my records, including a one-page summary I had prepared for his review. He conducted a detailed physical exam of my hip. After the exam, he reviewed my x-rays of both my hip and back. He said he did not think my pain was related to my hip. He then recommended an MRI, which the folks at Emergortho arranged for me at a facility close to my home, even though it was not an Emergotho facility.I would recommend Dr Merz to anyone, It was one of the best office visits in my life (75 years)

Dr Merz replaced my very bad knee. Although he said it was complicated and had to use a robotic arm it went well.
