Uncaring and unprofessional practice
Telehealth
I was a patient at this practice for 6 months, diagnosed with ADHD. My psychologist was fine, but seemed to care only about medications. The office staff is terrible, always seeming to be in a bad mood and wholly incapable of delivering or returning messages. The final straw was scheduling a recurring therapy appointment because I needed additional help, then finding out it was cancelled when I went to join. Office staff cancelled the appointment, never notified me, then blamed me for the cancellation (I didn't cancel it) before getting frustrated that their re-schedule attempts didn't match my availability (I'm a consultant with a tricky schedule) . The worst part about Shamsi & Associates is that they made me feel like I don't matter and that I'm not important. That simply cannot happen with your mental health provider. I've never been this disgusted with a medical practice.

I have Been seeing Dr. Shamsi for about 5 years. He has been kind , he listens and answers questions about medication, and advises of possible side effects. I have had nothing but a good experience with him. He is knowledable, on time, and patient. He helped me through the most difficult time of my life. I would recommend Dr Shamsi.

Competent & Takes Insurance
Dr. Shamsi is a very competent psychopharmacologist - he really knows his stuff. He falls short in that he really does not engage and could do a lot better in the empathy department. This is extremely disappointing - the sessions rarely if ever go the full 15 minutes. The reality is that he is one of the few psychiatrists in the area who will take insurance. The supportive psycho / talk therapy staff is ok but needs a lot of work; there are no PhD psychologists. If possible, consult your own therapist - try to learn about the different meds and then talk to Dr. Shamsi. Good luck.

So far, So good
So far I am feeling a lot better with the medications he has prescribed. He is very nice. Visits are really short for the money. However it does seem to be helping and he does listen to what I have to say.

Dr. Shamsi has been my psychiatrist for 10 years. He was the only physician who diagnosed me accurately and prescribed the correct medications. Over the last 10 years, I’ve had problems with my work environment, and he has always listened with compassion and suggested that it would be a good idea to take time away from my job to see how much this was effecting my depression and anxiety. He has always been there for me as well as his staff! Dr. Shamsi has truly, truly helped me with my overall mental heath issues in so many ways. I also see one of his therapists, and she works closely with Dr. Shamsi to coordinate my care. At one point he was so concerned about me that he scheduled the follow-up appointment! I highly recommend him and don’t understand the negative reviews. I don’t know where I would be today without his care!

Doctor left my wife high and dry with her medication. She suffers from depression and adhd and had questions about her medication and got angry about changing dosages and said this is our last appointment and hung up. Run away from this doctor quickly

Dr Shamsi just might be the worst Psychiatrist out here. I called to get an appt for my mother who cant speak English. He refused to take her back after several months as she was a former patient. Later he charged her for missed appt fee and reported her to the credit bureau. He only wants your money. I would highly recommended finding a doctor that actually cares for you and your wellbeing.

Great doctor, I feel like when I mention a concern or side effect he listens and takes note. He collaborates with my therapist when needed and while I wish the appointments were slightly longer (the reason for a 4 not a 5), I find him incredibly knowledgeable about medication. I think his quiet but direct demeanor might put some people off. For me as an introvert, I appreciate him not wasting my time with uncomfortable and pointless chitchat.

Dr. Shamsi is polite and professional but he doesn't seem to care much about his patients. My initial visit was about 7 minutes, top and he totally misdiagnosed me. For a year, he kept prescribing different medications that made me feel much worse than before meeting him. I had the luck to meet a psychiatrist who took the time to listen, and diagnose me correctly. I'm back feeling better than ever. Dr. Shamsi should take time to listen to his patients instead of rushing from one appointment to another.

I spoke to a therapist prior to my appointment. Dr. Shamsi was able to review her notes with my permission prior to my appointment with him. This allowed him to have a detailed synopsis of my issues prior to our talking which greatly improved our communication during our appointment. He then prescribed medication which has helped me greatly.

I wouldn't recommend Dr. Shamsi to anyone. This is by far the worse doctor I've ever seen. As other reviews mention, he doesn't listen and doesn't care about your well-being. Please do not make the same mistake I did and go see him because he has availability sooner than other psychiatrists. You'll probably end up regretting it.

Dr. Shamsi is a very arrogant doctor who thinks he can diagnosis and treat you without listening to you. I only chose this Dr because my previous Dr. left his practice and Dr. Shamsi was local. I was doing great on the medications I was already on but he insisted on changing my medications which caused me to decline in my health care. This Dr. does not care what the patient thinks.

He and his staff are fantastic! He was able to get to the root of my problem and diagnosed me immediately. He recommended a prescription and when I had an opportunity with one of his therapists, he recommended the best one for me. She is amazing and makes me feel like family. I would recommend Dr. Shamsi to everyone.

Discharged me without warning. He claimed I was not taking my meds when I swear I was. I called him saying that one med was having awful side effects so I stopped then he gave me new meds. I called him after our appointment that same week telling him I did not want to take the new meds. He never called me back. His office stoped replying to me. I eventually found out he discharged me even though I was still taking other meds that have severe withdrawal effects. It is very hard to find a psychi

Been treated by Dr. Shamsi & a therapist Linda for about 4 years. Linda’s great at listening & suggesting creative ways to navigate my issues. I don’t really see all of the negative things in these comments. Yes his office visits are short. Asks me the same questions each time & leaves room for my questions. I don’t have many questions or med changes so my appts are pretty straight forward. But I don’t have reason to think he wouldn’t listen if I did. He’s friendly enough. His practice is solid.

Went there looking for a new doc and therapist. Was impressed by their hours and staff. Saw the doc for 8 mos and was given meds not for my condition. I gained weight on one of the meds and when it wasn't working he told me ECT was the only option left not another type or class of drug. I was also seeing a therapist for 8 mos 2x a week and when i told her what he said she never fot back to me. I really liked the staff theyre the only part i miss. Dont see Danielle. She was terrible

Worst person I ever dealt with. I said person because he is not a doctor. Doesn’t listen and I had a severe reaction to a medication he gave me. When I called him he screamed at me and said I was bothering him and he was with his family, also said I was burning bridges??? He said to go back to medicine my primary dr gave me and hung up on me. Please read all of his bad reviews. I do not consider him a doctor at all. He doesn’t care
