I would NOT recommend Dr. Tai
He had no concern for me. His first question for me was, 'what are you doing here?' He never looked at my records or referring requests from 2 gastroenterologists. He made me feel as if I was wasting his time. I do not know why I went back for the 2nd appointment; total waste of two co-pays! He did not send anything to my PCP or my Rheumatologist or my Gastroenterologist. Giving him 1 star is too much! He never gave me results for my 2nd blood work. I had to have my Gastroenterologist order another blood work and I am waiting for a different oncologist to consult with; it is definitely not Dr. Tai!

Thorough and professional
I am currently being treated for rectal cancer by Dr. Tai and the NYOH care team. My interactions are direct and to the point as I move through this process. He is obviously very knowledgeable and is using appropriate drug therapies consistent with current rectal cancer treatment standards. He is very thorough and offers appropriate advice/information based on extensive testing (MRI, CT, Blood work). He is friendly, professional and answers my questions. Dr. Tai and the NYOH care team is there to move you through the cancer treatment process to a successful conclusion. I see he has received some critical reviews; they don’t match my experience. If you have concerns, just ask him and he will respond.

Completely Awful Human
This guy has no business working as a doctor // NYOH does a complete disservice to any patient they assign to him // How is he still employed? -Does NYOH have such low standards ? // He acts completely indifferent to the needs and concerns of patients and their families// He is an embarrassment to Hematologists and Oncologists everywhere who actually try to provide knowledgeable compassionate healthcare to their patients // No One should accept him as their doctor should they be unlucky enough to be referred or assigned to him // Having Cancer is bad enough …this guy will do Nothing to help you ! Nothing ! NOTHING!!!!

Disengaged and disorganized
Saw this doc for a consult, which he apparently thought was unnecessary. I was happy that he thought there was no cause for alarm, but my take away from him was that I was wasting his time. Not very professional. I asked him several questions and I received short and vague answers. He ordered some blood tests just to be sure of his diagnosis (which is commendable), and sent me on my way. He apparently forgot to inform the testing lab that I was coming, and I was lucky his nurse happened to walk by after I waited at the lab for 1/2 hour. She wondered why I was still there, talked with the doc, and immediately rectified the situation. My followup phone convo with the doc again was disengaged and vague. He failed to forward labs to my GP, as he said he would. I am very grateful on so many levels that I don't have to deal with this doctor any further.

For 7 years my deceased husband went to NYOH and Dr, Tai was his doctor. I went with him to all his appts. On top of 2 different types of cancers at different times he also had 5 bypass heart surgery. Dr. Tai was always kind and patient, always addressing concerns and taking time to make sure we understood. My husband passed away of heart desise, not cancer. I am thankful Dr. Tai and all the nurses at NYOH who took care of him.

Not a compassionate man at all. He showed no compassion when I cried after hearing my husband had stage 4 lung cancer. Didn’t pause from his computer to say he was sorry or give me a Kleenex. He continued to be the same throughout my husbands treatment and two of our daughters came too and felt the same about him. Yes rude too. My husband has passed away now and I wanted to share this.

Please find another doctor if you care about your loved one! He was totally unprepared & had us waiting in his room for over 15 minutes then after he finally came in he was looking at his laptop writing notes for a long time having us wait there watching him do this. What was he thinking? You go there SO NERVOUS & upset that your loved one has cancer stage 4 & now you wait & watch a doctor write notes for over 10 minutes! After all that we had no treatment plan! He barely explained his plan.

I was extremely disappointed. It was my first appointment and he was totally unprepared to a point where we sat in silence for over 10 min. as he reviewed my information. He had done no pre-work whatsoever and was missing vital information. He event took a personal phone call! He did not explain himself well at all and prescribed medication that I had concerns taking. His words, "well, just take it for 2 weeks and come see me" I learned the following day that I definitely did not need it.
