Patronizing and Dismissive
Do not go to this doctor. I saw him in May 2024. He had me wear a monitor and there were no indications of a problem with my heart. He said that he would give me a referral to a take a stress test. He did not. His conclusion about my condition was that I am out shape. I am not. I exercise at least 5 hours a week.

By the book - nearly cost me my life
I was 42 years old. I saw Dr Perlmutter on December 15th, 2021 and reported acute back and shoulder pain when exercising, which stopped with rest. 6 of my relatives on my mother's side had died of widowmaker heart attacks, and I was concerned. Was told that I was "negative for premature CAD in first degree relatives" and that I had "less than 2% chance of a heart attack", and was sent home. On January 2nd, 2022, I suffered a widowmaker, 100% blockage of my Left Anterior Descending Artery. I felt the same symptoms I had reported to Dr Perlmutter and went to the ER, where I coded twice on the table and 5 more times in the ambulance on the way to the cath lab in Evergreen where they inserted a stent. My ejection fraction went down to 25% efficiency and my heart is permanently damaged, though some usage has come back. I am lucky to be alive. Dr Perlmutter was nice, but I can't recommend him.

Awful
Condescending, arrogant and said there was no issue when I knew there was. Had to go to him because the doctor I wanted to see was booked until late August. Complained to my PCP and he told me to do whatever I could to see the doctor he originally wanted me to see. Finally got that done and found out I had pretty severe issue and would need a stent. Was told by the correct doctor that I was within just a few weeks of having a major heart attack. If you like a doctor who is awful and incompetent go to this guy.

A**hole doctor
Dr. Pearlmutter is the most condescending doctor I have ever met. I thought he was having a bad day, but seeing the other reviews, that was his regular demeanor. His responses were so short and he often cut me off. His lack of empathy comes off as a lack of respect for his patients.

Waste of my time.
Took one look at me and decided I had nothing wrong with me. Was condescending. Wrote notes about the visit that are definitely not what I said. Ridiculous.

Poor patient experience
In one word - Terrible. To set the record, I'm not angry but more sadden by the poor experience. Right from the beginning, I didn't get the warm and fuzzies from him. Very short and curt responses. While I don't expect a welcome mat, I do expect the opportunity to explain the treatment and tests of what is going on with me. When the results came back, I didn't realize how serious my situation was except learning that I needed to take some serious meds from my pharmacy. Still no discussion nor phone calls from Dr. Perlmutter about my condition. What kind of a doctor does that? The one positive thing is that he seems to be experienced. However, it's pointless when he doesn't communicate with you. I can't comment on his experience because of the lack of communication to share his knowledge. While I can't confirm this, it certainly gives the feeling that he doesn't care about his patients.

Dr. Perlmutter was interesting to talk to and had strong opinions about my non-medical questions. He is matter-of-fact, direct and good at what he does, which is something I have grown to appreciate from a medical professional who wants his patients to be healthy and active.

My experience with Dr. Perlmutter has been Excellent! He's efficient, friendly and always answers all my questions. I don't at all understand the issues some have had, personally I think it's them, not him. He knows his job and that's what I see him for, if you need a cuddle ask your Mom, if you need an accurate diagnosis and someone to help you regain your health see an excellent doctor like Dr. Perlmutter. Personally, I want someone that can separate some of the emotion out of the experience and keep me calm by giving me straight facts and solutions. I want a confident, pragmatic doctor that steers me in the right direction so I can get and stay well. I don't need someone to tell me what I want to hear, but what I NEED to hear. I think far too many patients have unrealistic expectations of what the doctor is there for and what he/she is supposed to do for you. The patient has more responsibility for their health than the doctor does and personal responsibility is lacking these days.

Dr Perlmutter is a very good cardiologist. HOWEVER what he has in technical doctor knowledge he severely lacks in basic human compassion and understanding. I was having a mental health crisis and was legitimately suicidal. When I told him this he said “well when you try to kill yourself make sure you don’t do it with Tylenol because that will just destroy your liver and you will be left with one more medical problem to not take care of”. Then he stomped off. Good cardiologist sub-par human.

Dr. Perlmutter has an excellent way of speaking to his patients. I'm always impressed by his preparedness and thorough advice. He gives me the impression that he has put significant thought into what he is telling me. When suggesting a new medication, he's not doing this without ensuring that I understand his reasoning for it. He's very respectful and courteous. He always greets me as "Hello Sir" and is quick to offer me a firm handshake. I'm glad he's watching my health for me.

First visit with my mother, he changed a ton of her meds and said, see you in a year. I agree 100% with the reviews below, he is so full of himself and dismissive of any questions the patient brings up, he's unbearable. We will not be back.

One is best served with an M.D. that is less brilliant and self served. His own diagnosis was met with contradictions of his own words. Lacks any empathy and talks right over you. Will try and bully you with his dismissive interest in even hearing your questions let alone answer them. Quick to lose temper.

You are unable to get a word in as this md is dismissive of any querry...lacks ANY empathy and does not grasp that people wish to know how much you care before they care how much you know. My information (given by md) was contradicted by his own staff. Would rather die than have to look at this man again.

care philosophy

I work hard to be certain patients can remain as active as possible and see that heart disease does not limit their lifestyle, goals or accomplishments.

At each visit, I go over all recommendations with the patient in writing and attempt to see that all of their questions are answered.
