Great Experience
Dr. Udwadia was professional, friendly, funny and actually listened to me. He had great eye contact and was very thorough with my exam. He was detail-oriented and knowledgeable about my diagnosis.

Professional & Prompt
Dr. Udwadia was the physician on call while my rheumatologist was out of town. I called and left a voicemail with a question and he called back the same day and spent time on the phone with me to explain the options, risks and his recommendation. I really appreciate how quickly he got back to me, the detailed questions he asked and his conservative (less risky) treatment. Thank you!

Dismissive and rude
Dr. Udwadia had not reviewed my chart, blamed my pmd then “guessed” why I was there “women come through my office all the time worried because of an elevated ANA and no symptoms” I told him I was actually highly symptomatic. He then began explaining auto immunity to me like I was a child. I told him I had a basic understanding as I am a nurse. He then began speaking to my male friend in the room and completely ignoring me. When the tests he ordered came back higher than the lab could measure in the spindal pattern (indicative or lupus, scleroderma or mixed connective tissue disorder) I wasn’t even called with the result or for any follow up. That’s negligence, I really should turn him into the board of medicine. By far one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a physician at a time I was the sickest and needed to be believed most.

Does not ever call or fills prescriptions
I really hate having to resort leaving a review but I have been trying to get this doctor to refill a prescriptions for weeks. I have left countless messages and no one calls back. I had to switch doctors due to change of insurance. Had a visit with Dr Udwadia on February 11th, I still had some of my prescription left from my other rheumy but he assured me that when I rain out all I had to do is call the office. Fast forward last month ( April) when I ran out and did exactly that. They informed me to have my pharmacist fax them the request. They never filled it. I called 3 times and no one ever calls back. Another thing, a week after my initial consultation, I had a phone visit scheduled to review bloodwork. Doctor was 1h30 late. Didn't even seem to care. Had to cancel work because of this. I wish there was another rheumatologist in Monterey that took my insurance. This has been a nightmare experience.

Disappointed patient – May 15, 2022

Terrible bedside manner. Demeaning, dismissive and arrogant. He seemed to have discounted me before I opened my mouth. He certainly directed the conversation to get the answers he had already concluded before he completed my exam. He seemed like he didn’t believe what I was saying and pegged me for a certain “type.” He was wrong! Plus he was the second Rheumatologist in this area who treated me, (a person in pain) like I was lying. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis a very easy diagnosis (also the most misdiagnosed) if taken seriously, all that’s needed is an X-ray. This guy ordered 12 X-rays (padding pockets of Montage health) and left me with a hopeless path to a high medical bill. At least I didn’t follow his lousy recommendations and found a family practice doc who treated me with respect and I was diagnosed with one X-ray at a lower cost. This guy baulked at the other docs I’d seen saying “ya, I’ll bet he told you it was fibromyalgia.” Nice! He is a specialist with narrow vision.

Dr. Udwadia has been treating me for several months. I really appreciate that he takes all the time necessary to ensure that we are on the same page in terms of treatment for my diagnosed condition. Dr. Udwadia always reviews with me where we left off at my last appointment so that we can fully discuss progress being made. Additionally, Dr. Udwadia has returned my phone calls in a timely manner and, again, takes all the time necessary to respond to my questions. I am very happy with Dr. U.

I was recommended to see Dr. Udwadia by my neurologist. This doctor took his time explaining things but didn't prescribe any pain medication. He only recommends Tylenol. One thing that struck me as odd was his struggle putting on the exam gloves. He must have thrown out 5 pair that he couldn't put on. But other than that I think he's a good doctor.

Three years ago my family doctor recommended Dr. Udwadia after receiving a positive ANA test with a positive Centromere B AB on my blood test. The test is consistant with Systemic Scleroderma. Dr Udwadia ran several blood tests but none of them included the testing for the Centromere B AB or the Anti-CENP IGg, even explaining symptoms of both reynauds symptoms, and esophageal problems and unexplained high blood pressure. I now have systemic Scleroderma & only know because I moved to So, Cal

He has some OCD behavior that makes me uncomfortable. I felt he was afraid he'd contract something from me. Human touch goes a long way and if you're applying TWO sets of gloves then I'm worry about you not the reverse. I also felt he was not actually listening to my symptoms and more interested in leaving room (full of germs?). It's again a very uncomfortable appointment not to mention I waited exactly one hour after my appointment time to see him.
