Sound advice, but unfortunate incentives
My first physical in 3yrs: within the first 2min of 'listening' to my health status the Dr. recommended that "... we switch this to an acute-care appointment, and reschedule another physical; if we're going to discuss such things." I explained that none of my issues are acute, but rather just my overall chronic health history (mild anemia etc.), which is why I selected an Internist. In the end her suggestions, advice, and referrals were sound and helpful - but the worse thing an MD can do is underestimate their patients' status as a savvy healthcare consumer, making perverse financial incentives paramount - I'm a public health official and former clinician. Does anyone remember when healthcare was less about business and billing, and more about actual patients' wholistic wellbeing? A front desk staffer called with my lab results; describing them as normal - I know they are not. I'm hoping that this review offers an opportunity for this well located practice to reflect & improve.

Bright but no time
I have been her patient for many years and I am sorely disappointed in her office etiquette. She speaks unbelievably fast. She also had the nerve to ask me to make another appointment because I was asking too many questions. Then I found out that I was being charged for an administrative fee, which I don't remember signing a document for and they never gave me proof when I asked for it. Also, she thought I had a gastro-intestinal problem, when it turned out to be Pleurisy, which my gastroenterologist found out by having me take an x-ray - she should have prescribed a chest x-ray of my lungs where I said the pain was.

Saw her for a physical. Talked so fast I wondered if something was "off". She tried to take my history verbally. Didn't listen & had to repeat a lot. The report I recieved later missed some things & got others wrong. I described some mild issues of concern & she immediately determined it was a result of a vitamin deficiency. I doubted this, but hey, she's the doctor, right? Bloodwork showed my vitamin levels were fine but she never followed up on next steps. The 2nd time I tried to see her about sleeplessness. It took 4 calls to her office to get an appointment. Again, she pushed solutions without listening to me. She repeatedly insisted on a prescription sleep aide, which I was adamantly against. She also said I needed to make a second appointment to get a more detailed follow-up (which cost more). Then, her office tried to charge me extra money for an "administrative fee" which I never agreed to. I said "Bye!"

She is amazing. Goes above and beyond to make primary care safe and effective for me, works with me to make sure my out of pocket payments are minimal with my not-so-great insurance at this time. Thank you Dr. Kasenetz!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Kasenetz for three years now, and she’s probably the best primary care doctor I’ve ever had. She’s easy to talk to, is caring and compassionate, and is always prompt and on time.
