Dr. Lyons lLITERALLY SAVED my life!!!
6 years ago I believed I had reached the end of my life! I was in my mid40’s and had spent 3 years in the most horrific and intense fight trying to survive “ The most Extreme Case of Mesenteric Ischemia ( Dr. James Mann Senior Attending Physician ofGastroenterology at UVA Hospital ), had ever seen “ ** Dr. Mann had been practicing in the specialty of Gastroenterology for over 45 years!*** Sadly,( for me), he retired just months after taking on my most exhausting/complicated case. I was turned over to another physician ( much less experienced than he) examined me & said, “I can’t help you, there’s nothing more to be done you’re going to die.” My 6 year old daughter saw Dr Lyons for a routine follow up appt. The next day & My husband told him of my fate. Dr. Lyons said “ No way will I accept that!” Bring your wife to my office tomorrow. I’m going to do everything I can to help her. And He DID! HE SAVED Me & gave me my life back ! He’s the most amazing physician EVER!

Excellent
Dr. Lyons is an exceptional neurologist. He is compassionate and patient, treating you like he would his own family. He is well sought after and has a busy schedule so you may wait a while for your appointment but he’s worth it. My husband has a complicated case and he has gotten no where with other neurologist. Dr. Lyons has been the best we’ve seen and he has went above and beyond giving him the best care available. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Lyons is my mother's saving grace. After a lifetime of seizures and meds not being enough anymore for her, he suggested she have surgery to remove a portion of her brain that was the source of the seizures. While we were all very scared we decided it was the best thing for her. The surgery was a success and, knock on wood, she's never had another seizure. I agree that you do sit in the waiting room for a while waiting for him, but it's because he gives each patient all the time they need to talk to him, ask him questions and get answers they need. I've never experienced a time when he or anyone in his office was rude. I think if you're a patient or have a child/spouse/parent who is a patient, you want to be top priority and be treated like you're the only patient he has. Trust me, I understand. My mom is my world and I wanted her cured, but Dr. Lyons has a lot of patients and each one of them deserves the same amount of time and attention. I would absolutely recommend him.

Final portion of review. So, after conceding to death because someone told me I had no choice and giving up on ever having a future. I am ecstatic to report that because of Dr. Lyons and his commitment to personal excellence, that I am now back to working as an RN fulltime in the NICU. Many practitioners have forgotten the very principles of which Medicine was founded on. They commit a huge injustice to the patients they serve. Dr. Lyons is a "Real-Life" Dr. House. He's not afraid to step out of the box, he's confident in his ability to make independent decisions and he never gives up on his patients. He's brilliant and I owe him my life. He realizes the fundamental truth that; everyone is someone, we all matter in the tapestry of life. Thank you Dr. Lyons for saving me! Susan L. Norman RN??

Thinking I FINALLY found a good provider NOT. His staff from the front, back and management are RUDE and unprofessional. By the end of this patient/doctor relationship I was dismissed without notice (on my drive to the appt 1.5 hours away) by "Dr. Lyons", because I decided that brain surgery was not an option I wanted. His manager nor himself have discussed this decision with me and refuse to return calls. Guessing I was just another number on his operating table. Totally unprofessional!

After hearing much praise from the local TV stations I contacted the office for a second opinion for a family member with intractable epilepsy. I was given conflicting information from staffing. Staffing did not return calls or show caring. Dr. Lyons per staffing never responded as well. Definitely not the amazing caring practice described or put forth in newspapers and news.
