Wait time
Every time I have an appointment with Dr Alabata I end up waiting no less than 45 mins before setting the Dr and a lot of times it is longer than that. He had a policy that he waited no longer than 15 mins for you then you get a bill for $50. He apparently doesn't feel that the patients time is as valuable as his.

I had cataract surgery, with implants, GREAT
The Staff was friendly and helpful. a few steps before you see Dr Alabata, but when you do, he has information he needs about your eye condition. He is knowledgeable and took the time to explain what I needed done to improve my vision. I have completed all precoders and very very satisfied with my new vision and Dr Alabata, I would highly recommend him and his eye center.

I have been a patient of Dr. Alabata since I moved to the Panhandle in 2018. He is compassionate, professional and takes the time needed to understand his patient's needs and to make sure they understand what is happening in their eyes and the rational behind the treatment recommendations. Sometimes it may be necessary to wait for several minutes to see him, but you can be sure that he will spend the time necessary with me when I get into the examining room. His staff are excellent, friendly, effecient and professoinal.

First visit: Office clean and comfortable. Staff friendly, efficient, and patient with my 82yr old hearing impaired mother. Dr. Alabata did laser surgery on one of her eyes with excellent results. HOWEVER, post surgery follow-up appointment very disappointing. We waited 2hrs 48mins for a 3 minute face to face with Dr. Alabata. Office manager should have realized they were overbooked and called us to reschedule. We will not return.

I echo another reviewer regarding Dr Alabama's departure from Emerald Coast Eye Institute. I've been relying of Dr Alabama for years and he left suddenly. My last appointment with Dr Alabama was in December 2015 and he wanted to see me in April 2016 and told me the office would call and schedule the appointment. They didn't call and when I called to inquire, I was told he left suddenly and was not notifying his patients. Extremely unprofessional

Left practice at Emeral Coast Eye and did not tell his loyal patients. Went to him for over 10 years as did hundreds of others and he moved on without notice. Very disappointed in him and the staff at ECEI for the out right non disclosure of him leaving when asked repeatedly. Not very ethical or nice.

3/8/16 Today, I had to wait to see the Dr. for 1.5 hrs, and there were still 2 ahead of me! If I had stayed there, I would have been there 2.0 - 2.5 hrs. to see the Dr. I left and told his nurse that I had waited 1.5 hrs and that was it! I told the checkout nurse that I was leaving and that I would find another Dr. This man has no respect for his patients, and I am out! I am a businessman and am very busy. I do not have time to sit and wait! He will not see me again! GOT IT!

I am very skittish when a doctor wants to examine my eyes and many have gotten upset with me. Dr Alabata is patient and caring and does everything carefully and gently. He has taken care of eye problems easily and painlessly. He knows his business.
