Dr abandoned me at the time of my greatest need
Vocal cord cancer treated unsuccessfully with radiation and chemo. Needed further treatment (total laryngectomy)dut Paniello was nowhere to be found. They kept sending me to a PA who had no clue and kept telling me everything was fine. I finally found Dr James Boyd at Mercy who performed the laryngectomy. Have not heard from Paniello since. At the time of surgery I had lost 90 pounds and my throat was closed off. Paniello didn't bother with any explanation and should not be trusted.

I had to have multiple vocal cord surgeries in 2022 & 2023. Dr. Paniello, told my friend and I that is a retired nurse that he would go directly above the first laser cut on my left vocal cord but when I went back for my post op check up he told me he cut the right vocal cord. I was devastated and let him know he screwed up. There was no reason to touch the right vocal cord. He tried to lie and say he never said what he did but my friend and I both had notes. Suddenly I got a phone call a couple of days later that I was being transferred to another doctor with no explanation why. Record everything and keep your notes. He will never touch me again. The new doctor is much better. Don't trust him.

Dr. Randal Paniello
He was always set up and ready to administer treatment along with a neurologist and a nurse practitioner. The doctors took data and adjusted the treatment, after listening carefully, if necessary, in order to achieve optimal results. They were the only ones in the area to offer the life changing treatment. Very few on the US offer it. Thank God for their genius and dedication.

Poor time management
I waited 1 hour & 20 minutes for my post op appointment & I didn't even get to the back patient rooms. There were 2 patients still ahead of me when I inquired at the front desk. Which means the wait would have been astronomical. I ended up leaving & missed my post op appointment. No one communicated with me or communicated with the other patients in the waiting room regarding the delay. We were not given the opportunity to reschedule. If I showed up for my appointment this late, would I have been seen? Probably not. Very poorly run office. Wouldn't recommend this practice.

Fantastic Dr & fantastic man! 4.5 years out of treatment for squamous cell carcinoma cancer. Now graduated away from Dr. Paniello to Melissa Protell PA & in very good hands with her. Every one that treated me at Barns Jewish & Siteman Cancer Center are top notch & personable. I was in the right place. Thank you!
