Dr. Rhoda Smith, MD

Dr.Smith has operated on me several times. I`m very happy with all the results. Would definitely recommend her to anyone. She is top notch. Her staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Dr. Smith did a great job removing one of my organs. Recovery was a breeze and swift. She has a great bedside manner. You can just tell that she's an awesome person when you talk with her. Totally a Key Wester. She also consults when I have abscesses. Even though she's a surgeon, she really doesn't want to cut you unless she has to. In the cases of my abscesses, she consults while we determine if IV antibiotics will provide the relief.

During the COVID outbreak, Dr. Smith took removed my 75 yo father. During the surgery she determined he needed to be transferred to Miami for additional surgery. She discussed this with my father while he was still under the residual effects of anesthesia. She did not discuss it with his wife. When we found out about the transfer, we requested that he go to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The Jackson surgeon discussed my father’s case with Dr. Smith. He was to be transferred over night to Jackson. The next morning at 4:45 am, my mother called me to state that Dr. Smith ignored our request and sent him to another hospital. Neither my mother nor I could visit my father. We were not updated on his plan of care. This caused undue distress to my 74 yo mother. Also Dr. Smith lied to my father stating it would take days for Jackson to accept him. He agreed to the transfer under the influence of anesthesia. When I talked to him after he arrived in Miami he stated he didn’t know why he was there.

Dr Smith was present during her interaction with me as a patient. She has a sense of humor and made me feel at ease under stressful circumstance. I felt that I was in good hands when I had to have an operation. If I ever have to be operated on again I will choose Dr. Smith.
